I want to know about Rogaine...

I am still losing some hair...going a bit bald on top of my head...and it doesn't look great..so I would like to know:
1. Do you have to get a prescripton or is it over the counter?
2.Is it in a shampoo form?
3.Does it hurt..and are there any side effects?
4.Will it affect me taking my other medicines at all?

I have Lupus(mild) with fibromyalgia, and I am not sure if it's the lupus that has caused my hair to come out, or if it's genetic, or even if it is because I always put scrunchies in my hair..and make ponytales(I hate hair in my mouth,and in my face). I know that I started to lose hair when I was in my twenties,and I am now in my early forties.
also wanted to know....Does Rogaine make hair grow in other places that you wouldn't want....? just wondering.

I have to be honest here....Rogaine sounds like a type of Dog food to me...sorry....I just never thought that I would want to know all of this stuff, but, the more that I see the terrible bald spots on my poor little head....I start thinking...maybe I should just come out and ask SOMEbody!
