Sponsor tropbelle28 01-20-2006, 11:52 AM Hi Ally
I am on month 3 of using a fertility monitor, the first month was excellent, it all went to plan and it showed me when I ovulated. The second month I tested and tested, nothing. I have quite a regular cycle of 28 days and o normally happens between day 12-14 but the second month, nothing. I also had an internal scan done around the same time which showed I DID ovulate so I rang the makers of the monitor and asked what was up. They gave me loads of advice on how exactly to test (weeing on those little sticks first thing in the morning can be quite a challenge!) and tips to make sure I was doing the testing accurately. This month (month 3) it showed I o'ed so I guess I did something wrong last month. How long is your cycle normally and when do you o? Do you have a helpline no you can ring? When I got no peak days in the second month, I got really upset and immediately thought there was something wrong with me but I now realise that the monitor is very sensitive and you have to get the technique exactly right. Good luck! TB  Ally803 01-20-2006, 12:04 PM Hi-Thank you for replying. That does make me feel better. I actually have been collecting my sample in a cup first and then dipping it to test because I worry that I won't hit the mark correctly otherwise. I do it for exactly 15 seconds. My cycles were a perfect 29 days a part the first four months off the bcp and very regular flow and then the last two months my cycles were about 32-33 days apart and very light and more brownish. Usually only a tampon or pantyliner. Do you think that would play a factor? Thank you so much for your help!! I really appreciate it and best wishes to you. :bouncing:
tropbelle28 01-20-2006, 12:12 PM I don't really know why your cycle would change as you described, although I do know it can take a while for everything to regulate after coming off bc. But it's weird that you had 4 "normal" cycles then for it to suddenly change. What does everyone else think?
I read it is possible to have a light af the first month of being pregnant but I am not sure about it happening 2 months in a row. Have you tested to be sure? If not, I guess it must be one of those tricks nature can play on us and your body is still adjusting to coming off bc. I guess this time of adjustment may also be affecting the results you get from your monitor. Let us know how you get on and if you get any info from your monitor manufacturer, it would be great to hear it! Good luck TB  tropbelle28 01-20-2006, 12:13 PM BTW which brand of monitor are you using? I use Persona (I am in UK)
Ally803 01-20-2006, 12:24 PM I have a yearly exam coming up in a couple weeks so I plan to ask my Dr. about it then. I have taken several pt's and all were BFN! I too thought it was weird to have such regular and normal AF's and then get these weird ones. Do you think it could be stress and anxiety related. Maybe that makes it lighter and a little later? Since on the first 4 after my bcp we weren't at all ttc? That's what I'm wondering. I also worry because endo. runs in my family. But my dr. told me that if it was endo I would have horrible AF's and bad cramping and pain, which I don't??
My Monitor is Clearblue Easy. I'll keep you posted if I call the helpline and see what they say. Thanks! |
