View Full Version : Getting water in your eyes? bad?

I noticed a few people said they were worried about getting water in their eyes? Is there a reason we should be avoiding this? And for how long?? My Dr. did tell me not to rub my eyes vigorously for at least 6 months, and I was suppose to avoid water the first 2 weeks, but does this continue? and why? Just curious as always! :)

Thanks
Cari

Cari,
As far as I can remember, you were just supposed to keep the water out of your eyes for the first month after your surgery. And, basically, it is as easy as keeping your eyes shut tight while you were showering. So, you should be past that time period by now. And, if you are worried, just keep your eyes shut tight while you shower and if you go swimming. I can't remember how long people are supposed to wait post-op until they are allowed to go swimming but, that was another thing that my doctor (and most others) warned against.

Anyway, I think you are past the danger zone regarding water in your eyes. But, if you aren't sure, ask your doctor. That is part of what you spent so much money for. They are there to answer all of your questions!

Take care!
