I was sexually active about a week ago and a few days later I had a horrible itch on my knee. It was an insect bite of some sort, I figured, even though it's winter and I've been indoors, which struck me as odd. Well, I've since developed a light smattering of the bites on my legs, my lower belly and back, and — disturbingly — in the crotch area, especially along the line where my legs meet my pelvis.

The bumps are small, itchy, easily scratched open. Do crabs go so far afield of the pubic region? The timing is too suspicious for me to blame bedbugs, and I don't live in the NY area where it's so bad, but the symptoms I would think match better with that nasty. I can't see anything, but I'm a girl and that's not the easiest area for close inspection ...

Any diagnostic help would be so, so appreciated.

Well, you can actually see crab lice. They pretty much look like tiny little crabs (about the sice of a pinhead) in your pubic hair. They generally sit where the shaft of the hair meets the skin.

They dont stray from the pubic region much and dont really go into areas where theres no body hair (like your knee for instance).

Are you sure that theyre bites on your legs and its not some type of allergic reaction? Hives can sometimes look like bug bites. Either way, if it persists for more than a few days, Id see the doc. If its an allergic reaction, it could get worse.

could it be fleas? They will bite everywhere and you don't have to have pets in the house to have fleas.

Hi MeekMouse,
Do you remember if you stood or walked through some tall grass or weeds earlier that day?
