I have had an ongoing problem with ingrown hairs and have had little luck getting rid of them. They seem to be really long, sometimes 6 inches or even longer. Anyway, my eyes have been very itchy lately and I thought I had maybe an allergy or something to my eyemakeup, but tonight I found what I thought to be an eyelash on the inside of my lower eyelid. So, I tried to wipe it out with a kleenex.
It wasn't an eyelash, it's an ingrown hair!
I know I shouldn't have, but morbid fascination made me give it a tug. I could feel this hair sliding under my skin on the inside of my other eyelid!
I pulled on it some more and the hair outline can be seen from the nape of my neck (yes, in the back), over my earlobe, up my cheek into the outer corner of my eye then along the inside of my lower eyelid, over the bridge of my nose into the other eye and then down my cheek all the way to my neck just below the jawbone.
I've had a headache since I pulled on it and it's really difficult to just leave it alone (some of it is poking out and tickling my skin - ewww) Just what can I or should I do about it? It seems kind of silly to go to the emergency ward to deal with an extra long ingrown hair, but at the same time I'm worried about this hair actually giving me a headache - I know hair can be very sharp and I'm worried about any damage it might do to my nerves.
Advice please!! Has anyone ever heard of ingrowns getting THAT long??
