I have been diagnosed starting w/ Labs to Meneries disease, anxiety, vestibular neuritis to the very last ear doctor I saw said that it sounded like I have Mal de Debarqment even though I had not traveled at all before it happened. He wants me to get another MRI when I have already had one and it was normal. I am beginning to feel that they (doctors) really don't know what they are talking about...each one thinks that he is right and that the other doctors are wrong. I feel like it is a waste of time to see any doctor b/c even if they can make a diagnosis....there is not cure for this problem. I am usually a very cheerful outgoing person that keeps busy, and this thing has reduced me to tears every day not matter how hard I try and beat it. I keep putting everthing on hold waiting for this to go.

Hi Lauren29,
I totally agree with you.... My doctor told me that the vertigo was caused by high blood pressure, then anxiety and still does'nt know. The physician told me it was just vertigo and you have to live with it... Do we really need these poeple and all of their tests to tell us what they think is wrong!! The fact of the matter is that we have a problem that is not going away in a hurry, and we have to try and get on with our lives without too much worry.... Try not to waste you time, waiting for this to go away, instead, think of the positive things in life and enjoy the good days(IF POSSIBLE)....

Great Advice Dazz, Unfortunately not all of us have the same thresholds and coping mechanisms to deal with this. For some, a mild case can put them over the edge, for others it takes much more. Good days -- Good Days... When I have them, I enjoy them, when I dont its like I never had them to begin with... You completely forget, even if it is one good day, what the bad days are like....... Atleast I do, but then when it hits again, UGHHH THE Anxiety, Depression, Pain etc... come back with a vengeance.

The key is to find the RIGHT specialist - I think you need to locate a NEUROTOLOGIST near you.
And it is not strictly true that there are no cures for inner ear problems - menieres they can do surgery/change your diet; MAV they can prescribe tablets and inner ear damage/labs they can prescribe VRT. Sometimes just KNOWING whats wrong can help deal with it all.
Keep the faith. You will get answers but I know how long it can take.

Re: crazylabyrinth
yeah they can do surgery on meneries - it means they destroy your inner ear it stops the ringing and the dizziness but YOUR DEAF nice fix huh. And by the way medications don’t always do it either it depends on the person. Most people who have Meneries have it in only one ear but there are a few of us that have it in both aren’t we lucky :(

hey. what are your symptoms like? do your symptoms come and go in episidoes? i know you've been told diffrent things from diffrent people but look at the facts. what tests did you have? what were the results? did you have hearing loss? what i think crazylabrinth was saying was with meniers disease.....plently of people who have it still lead normal lives. look up a list of famous people that had it. some of the worlds greatest people had it and still did great things. even way back when they had no treatment for it at all.
anyways try to find a doctor who can take all your tests and stuff and put an answer together. i know for me i had an mri w/ contrast and that was negative. i had an eng which was normal but it showed a weakness in my right ear. i was diagnosed with a viral inner ear infection or labs and after 7 months i still feel alittle off but im doing much better than what i was doing.
i had a hearing test and that came out perfect.
