View Full Version : Overpronation, Foot rolling

Many years ago, I was told I overpronate, that is, my feet roll inward too much. I got shoes that were supposed to help. They weren't special shoes or anything, they were just well-built tennis shoes (feild hockey shoes actually).
I didnt think about it much until I started working and standing on my feet for long periods at a time. I've long sense gotten new shoes that raen't made to support over-pronation and aren't even made well (I dont have much money for shoes). Now my feet hurt nearly all the time and I think it's due to this overpronation thing. Is there anything I can do to make them stop hurting?

When your feet are going inward (soles of feet going in, rather than out), that's called supination, not pronation. Pronation is the opposite (soles of the feet going outward). So you might have the wrong kind of shoes, depending on what you told the people in the shoe store. It could also be that the shoes are just of poor quality or maybe they are just old and worn down.

I mean they roll towards each other, is that inward or outward?

Kehorner...You are a bit confused...

Pronation is when they roll towards eachother (meaning in).

I think you are both right but not understanding each other. Supination is like walking on the outer edge of your foot (so the ***soles*** face each other) and your ankle would tend to roll out. Pronation is walking on the inner side of your foot and your ***ankle* **would tend to roll in (toward each other). I think one is talking feet (soles) and one is talking ankles. Sophie
