This is my first post though I have been reading thru d site. Finally 2day I have decided to take Vitex. I have irregular periods & this time its almst 60 days & AF has not visited me yet. Looks like many of you have used vitex & have conceived successfully. I called up the health food store & they do have the vitex tincture. Can you tell me how to use it? Is it supposed to be taken only till ovulation or till you get a BFP? Im mentally very stressed as my in-laws are abusing since Im not able 2 bear them grandchildren. Plz help me & explain in detail how I can start with vitex.... Senior members plz do reply & help meeee!

Hi! I think vitex will be good for you cause your cycles sound like mine used to be almost. I used it for one month and got pregnant that same cycle. I really believe it was because the vitex helped me O early and i was able to watch and bd on the right days. Im not sure what you're SUPPOSED to do but here is what i did: I took 20-35 or 40 droplets of vitex daily from the last day of af until i positively O'd. I know this because i was charting my temps and also used an OPK. I also drank 2-3 cups of green tea a day and i would mix my vitex in the tea because it some of the nastiest stuff i've ever tasted!! YUK!!! green tea is supposed to increase your cm (it really did for me!LOL) but it is said to interfere with folic acid absorption so i recommend taking it only until you O, just in case you do get pg, cause the baby really needs folic acid in the beginning to ward off spinal or neurological "defects". Its also a REALLY good idea to be taking a prenatal vitamin right now.
The people at the health food store can also be able to help you with this. the lady who sold me mine also took it just to help her cycles be more regular and she gave me some good advice on it.
I hope that helped a little at least. let us know if you have anymore questions and keep us posted!!

steph66- I have got one vitex tincture from my health food store. Im waiting for my AF to come & then I ll start it from CD1. Should you take 20-40 drops daily or 20-40 drops three times a day?? I usually predict ovulation with my cm only. Shld I use an OPK to find when I need to stop taking vitex & green tea?
Thnx alot for replying. Your success has started positive hopes in me :)

I too got successfully pregnant using Vitex. Except with my I used it in a pill version, much easier for me. I didn't notice anything the first month, but that's might have to do with the kidney infection I got that month that really laid me out for a few weeks. but, the 2nd month, WOW..... did I ever notice a difference. First of all, I usually O on day 14 or 15, that month I O'd a week earlier on day 8, and I got pregnant. I was lucky that I was also taking my temps at the same time, and I also can feel when I O, along with using the OPK, I was able to catch the fact that I O'd earlier than normal and made sure DH & I got busy ASAP. I took Vitex from the first day of my period, all the way thru until the next month. When I knew I was pregnant which was 2 weeks after I O'd, I immediately stopped taking it. I also drank the green tea from first day of period until O. I hope this helps, and best of luck. I am now almost 18 weeks pregnant and baby and I are doing well.

This is great info. My periods seem to be getting longer apart and my ovulation seem to get farther apart as well with each month that I am off bc. Is this something that you ladies think I should ask my Dr. about before I begin? Any other harmful side effects? Thanks so much for the great help!

Ally- As far as I have researched over d net, I dont find any bad side effects. Looks like they set your hormone levels correctly which help you ovulate properly.

I used to take it but then stopped as it wasnt helping but i believe that was due to the contraceptive injection i was having 1yr previous. My af was kick started and i was put on clomid and so did not take the vitex.

I have just started again today CD7 so im aware it will not necessarily help this month but maybe it will help next month. (the reason i didnt take it with the clomid is because i was taking lots of meds and felt if i took anymore i would rattle ;))

Good luck
