Okay,My cousin signed up for Bally's the other day,and he's tryin to gain muscle mass. He says he spoke with a weightlifting trainer and they told him to stay away from sugar period, and do not drink Gatorade, or don't eat too much fast foods such as burgers, and fries. How true is this? can anyone add to this or shed some light on this topic, I need to know because I am lifting to gain muscle mass, I am now 6'0" 160 Ilbs, but my cousin is 5'8" 210 Ilbs. Maybe size has something to do with it!!! But what shall I eat and get plenty of to compliment my weightlifting and me building muscle mass as my muscles grow??? I appreciate all feedback thank u all!!!!

Fast foods loaded with 'FAT' are obviously not good for you. That is common sense and any nutritionist or anyone interested in health would mention that to you. Eating 'crap' food will get you bigger but by fat, not muscle. It's extremely poor quality food.

As for sugar, sugar is basically 'carbs' and of course to many carbs are again 'not good for you'. Perfect example why pop isn't good for you.

To build mass, you have to eat lean proteins, very low fat meals and also ensure your getting up to 1.5 times your body weight in grams a protein a day when your training and from then on. You need protein to build muscles. Gatorade is good to replenish your body after training but there are other options that are better for you. Sugar, especially refined ones are for the most part a bad thing for you.

You want to be ensuring your getting enough protein and in the same time, keeping your carbs/sugar and fat intake to a minimum.
