Sponsor gocatsgo 01-24-2006, 12:17 PM Hi, I took miralax for my colonoscopy, but I took the phosphosoda for my surgery prep. They both get the job done as far as cleaning you out goes. I found the phosphosoda better only because there is less to drink and I am a gagger. With the miralax you need to drink a lot and the phosphosoda is more like a large shot. Either way, get a good book because you will be in the bathroom a lot tonight! :) Good luck! Let us know how you make out. Getting "cleaned out" is the hardest part...then tomorrow you will take a little nap and then you will have some answers. Take care, Cats trittsneighbor 01-24-2006, 05:26 PM Hi, I had to take 4 liters of Trilyte SOL . You know how big a 1 liter soda is, so Imagine having to take 4 liters in 6 hours. I had to drink 8 onces every 20 minutes from 4 pm until 10pm then, take an enema with a bag. (one of those old timey kind) that I had to fix myself, once before bed, and again upon wakening before my test. The prep was not fun. : ) I've talked to family member's who had it so easy. They had to buy everythng premade and their laxitive drink was small and quick. : ) Oh well, it was only one day of my life! trittsneighbor 01-24-2006, 05:28 PM Hi, I had to take 4 liters of Trilyte SOL . My mother had one and she had to take the fleet enema, and the green bottled laxitive you buy at the drug store. Gerard 01-24-2006, 06:24 PM I read on the web that there was a slight chance of Kidney damage with talking the phospho soda for the test. (Very few cases of kidney damage) This concerns me a little and wanted to see if this is what most take for colonoscopy. Waiting for call back from Doctor. Don't want to miss inform, but thought was worth looking into. trittsneighbor 01-24-2006, 09:14 PM oh I see. Maybe that explains why some doctor's use that one and some don't. I think their is a small risk with just about everything though. edinaman 01-24-2006, 11:17 PM I also took phosofleet for my 2 colonoscopies. I learned after the first time, that it is easier to drink the stuff with a straw. You bypass some of the tastebuds in the front of your tongue. Before I ever had the colonoscopy, I had to drink Golytly (spelling) for the surgery that discovered the colon cancer. That was the absolute worst thing I ever drank. When I made the appointment for the colonoscopy, I told them I could never drink that again. The nurse said, don't worry, we use a different prep. It probably is relative, but the phosofleet was much easier. You may want to buy some moist wipes of some kind. Your butt gets sort of sore after a while. |
