I am 3+ weeks PP and I am eagerly looking forward to working out after my 6 weeks PP checkup.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to get back into the grove of things once I'm approved? What type of workout routines did you do and were they successful?
Thank you!

Once you get the OK from your MD you should focus on strengthening your core. Core being abdominal and lower back muscles. I was very eager to just start running again after having my son and my focus was to just get the weight off, but you need to focus on getting those core muscles stronger before anything else. Pilates is a great form of excercise that involes lots of core strengthening. Good luck

Hey Mommie, looks like we're both looking to get fit post sections! I started doing pilates and 20-30min of cardio 2wks ago. I walked off and on while I was healing. helped the baby sleep and helped me get moving a bit. If you feel good, no pain or anything, after your 6wk check up then you can do anything you want. If your stomach is still tender where the incision is, you may want to wait on the ab workouts. I had a blister form at 6wks and I refused to do anything for my abs. It wasn't that it hurt, I was just not comfortable doing anything until everything was healed. I did do the cardio, just waited a bit on the pilates.
So far, I've lost 7lbs in 2-3wks. I feel much better, but still have a loooong way to go.

Hi Roxy! I have heard everyone rave about pilates, so I think I'm going to try that too. My weight still hasn't budged, so I think once I get the Ok on Feb 2nd, my weight will start to fall off again. I gained 40 pounds and so far I've lost 25. The weird thing is that I lost 30 pounds before I got pregnant (which means that I weigh less now then I did at my heaviest weight) and none of those clothes fit me!! They're my fat clothes!! I am still in maternity clothes, and it's so depressing. My shirts are WAY too small becasue my boobs are huge. And, let's not even talk about the pants. I just feel sick with myself. But, I know that things will be better after the 2nd.
I'm also going to be doing core strengthening, which is SO important afer a c-section. Have you been doing that?

I totally agree.... and do look at yoga for toning too, it really helps. Getting back in shape after a C section must take into account the strength re-building factor. Breastfeeding will also help take the pounds off.

If only that were true. I am breastfeeding and haven't lost much on anything until I started working out.
Mommie-2-Be, tell me about the maternity pants. I am still in them 3months PP and it sucks, bad! I could buy some new jeans, but I refuse to wear the size I am in. I am trying to lose some of the weight before buying any pants. Shirts are not much of a problem. As for the workouts, I've just been doing good cardio workouts for 20-40min a day on my Gazelle Freestyle, and pilates workouts. Core Strengthening, would that be crunches and such?

Okay, my 6 week PP checkup was moved to the 11th. DUH, I'm only going to be 5 weeks this week. She scheduled it wrong and I didn't catch it until today! So I'll be waiting another week to workout.
I haven't lost any weight since my second week. I lost 25 pound the first two weeks and I still have 15 to go. Everyone said the weight would just fall off, but it really hasn't.
Your core is your abdominals, obliques, glutes and the lower back. You usually strengthen these by using the fitness ball and doing things like the bridge. And yes, but doing the dreaded crunches! :)

That's why I love pilates. It works all of those muscles. I'm doing Windsor Pilates. I just did the accelerated workout today and it was so hard. I didn't realize how out of shape I was until that workout! Stretching was so difficult!
I was told the weight would just fall off too. I wish that happened, but it doesn't. I hate those women who pop out a kid and look the way they did before pregnancy! AUGH!!
