She kept it from her boyfriend and I for about 2 days and I ended up taking her to the hospital yesterday afternoon after seeing the state she was in. She has been suffering chills/sharp pains on the right side of her abdominal area and intense headaches/sensitivity to light and sound. Basically, it hurts her to move.
After waiting at the hospital for 3 years, we were informed that she has a renal cyst infection that is especially bad on her right side, where one of the cysts has a lot of fluid in it. The doctor noted that her white blood cell count was extremely high as well indicating an infection.
The nurse who administered painkillers and cipro through IV (which didn't seem to effect my mom at all) seemed to be sure that my mother was staying over night, but we told her that the doctor said he wouldn't be keeping her. We think this is because my mother has no insurance.
She has been given macrobid (nitrofur) and percocet (they both work together apparently). The problem is that this has gotten WORSE. I'm worried and am wondering why in the hell they didn't give her a prescription for cipro instead of macrobid. Any thoughts on this? We may be going back to the hospital tomorrow (or tonight) if it gets much worse.
