Hey all,
I just wanted to say thank you to all of you that have been ther for me up until now. My fusion is schedueled for thursday and I'm pretty nervous. It'll probably be a while until I can sit at the computer for long enough to write you all, but as soon as I can I will. I look forward to being on the other side of all of this. It's been four years so I am pretty anxious. I cannot wait to be able to go horse back riding, get back to work, cook a dinner that takes even just an hour to make, etc!!! Just to be able to enjoy the small things in life.
I hope you all are doing well and I will check in again tomorrow but after that it will be a while and I will have a whole lot more to say. Good luck to all and best wishes. Take care. Kristy. ;)

Oh Krisity many blessings and wishes for your surgery on Thursday. I am going in on Monday so we can share our stories after. What kind of fusion are you having and how many levels. Mine is on L5S1 and I am anxious as heck too. Just keep praying on it and I will pray for you tomorrow where is your hospital and what state are you in. Much luck to you dear and I will be thinking of you...

Hey Kristy,
good luck on your big day 2mrrw. I'm having a 3 level lumbar fusion on friday and I'm freaked out by it. Yesterday I went for pretesting. It seems the closer the day gets the more nervous I become. Well I guess I'll look for you when I feel up to getting back on the computer. Today I'm going to call Dell or HP and see how much a laptop is. That way when I'm feeling a little better I can go online. Well, much luck

Hi Kristy, and everyone else who has surgery in the next week...the waiting was definitely the hardest part - once surgery is over you'll be able to heal. Like Cas says, look forward to a good summer and being able to ease yourself back into a normal life. Take care all we'll be thinking of you!

I will be praying for all of those having surgery in the next days/week. I agree that the waiting is the hardest part...
Don't know if you all have read any of my posts about having an IPod and downloading some books on there, along with music. I found this was an awesome way to relax and not have to find a comfortable position for my neck. I would assume for those having lumbar surgery it is nice as well. That way if you need to be flat, you can just enjoy "listening" to a good book. It's really fun to just close your eyes and picture the scenary, the characters, etc. I am actually 6 weeks post-op and enjoy the books on my IPod more than regular reading now:):) Even if you don't have one, I'm sure there is a friend, or your friend's teen, who would let you borrow it for awhile.
** The only thing is to download the books on a high speed connection:):):) I have dial-up and go to my friends house with my laptop, choose some books on I-tunes, click download, and then by the time we are done with a coffee/lunch and a chat, it's done:)
The other suggestion is to surround yourself in your "recovery" spot in your house with things that make you feel good emotionally. I also borrowed lots of movies that made me laugh (not too hard since I had cervical surgery:)) and boosted my spirit. I truly believe that staying positive and joyful during your recovery is crucial. I, myself, am a Methodist so prayer is also something that I couldn't do without.
Just a few tips and I really pray for you all to feel so much better after the surgery and are quickly on the road to recovery to start enjoying your lives more with less pain. Listen to your body!!!!! and follow dr. orders and even though you start to feel better, take it easy and let your body take it's time to mend:)
Hugs and blessings,
Ingy

Hi Kristy,
I know we have the same problem and my surgery is in 3 weeks. I am praying that you have a great outcome. they say that fusion for spondy is a pretty predictable outcome.(good results) I hope so for our sake.

Sheri.
Good luck on your fusion . I wouldn't call them predictable . My first fusion didn't heal . ( No I don't smoke ) But my second is working great ...
