I wonder what happened to everyone. The board is dead today...I guess everyone is feeling a little better and not in as much need for consoling and advice! Well, I still am! I have reordered the wheelchair as it looks like ***at least***another 5 weeks without walking for me! It's supposed to be arriving today. Also waiting, again, for the doctor's office to call so hopefully I can be recasted (with the window...that should be different) by next week and get this ball rolling!! I am waiting for my nwb exercise video to arrive as well.
Update...1/26 Now they are saying possibility of 8 more weeks nwb but count on 10-12 weeks!!!
Hi Rose, I'm so glad you have started PT. Are you having any PT for your shoulder and wrist as well at the same time. I'm sure they could work something in for you since you are there anyway. How about shoes, Rose? Are you wearing your own or a bigger size or sandals for more comfort for your toes? Let me know how the PT progresses.
Wtwct, My thoughts are with you for tomorrow!! Put those other crazy thoughts out of your head!! :D :D
JD, You must be feeling a lot better. I haven't seen you around for a while. Did you have to call your doctor about the swelling? Will he take more xrays? How about shoes? are they getting a little more comfortable?
I sure hope someone is around! Sophie

Rose, my God, you are going thru a rough time. I feel for ya. I remember when I had my triple fusion on the left, I was NWB and crutched to the kitchen sink. I bent over to pick up a plastic Barbie cup and my back went into a spasm. I thought to myself "this can't be happening" I could not move and I was standing on crutches with my left leg behind me. I tried to use the crutches but that was not going to happen, I felt like I could not breath. What the heck, what's a person to do. Well at that time, the neighbor girl liked to come over and play board games with me. (she was my best friend at the time; 9 years old)LOL she came in and saw me there and immediately called 911. I felt so dumb when the ambulance got there. They started laughing. I have to admit, I did to. They said, are you stuck, I said that would be YES

Hi Rose, In February, I will be flying to the great white north (yes, my homeland) Canada, for a family reunion. I haven't been back for a number of years...don't really know why but time seems to run away.
I am a little nervous about flying with the cast on. More nervous about that than the fact I will be nwb and have bottlecap looking ports on top and underneath my foot on the cast!! (Still trying to imagine what that will really look like!) And trying to carry a portable ultrasound machine on board the plane. (I wonder what security will think of the machine!) I have a hard enough time going upstairs or from the kitchen to the living room but at least I'll have a wheelchair. Hopefully it won't be too cold and icy when I go.
I don't think I can post the site where I got the video from but if you search for videos for using a wheelchair you should find it. It hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you know when it does.
Still trying to comprehend the fact that it MAY be another 10-12 weeks nwb.
Hopefully everyone is having a great day! Sophie
