Hi my hair is long, curly and on the dry side.

I wash my hair in shampoo once a week and sometimes only in conditioner.

I spray conditioner into my hair daily

I dont use hairdryers, curlers or anything hot

As my hair is showing some grey I have over the last 6 months been colouring my hair and noticed this morning LOTS of short broken hair. What can I do about this, I colour my hair every 2 months. It is summer and I must admit it is looking a bit like straw!! Thanks for any advise.

One thing I found that works and advise using to my clients is loreal it is a deep conditioner I can;t remember the exact name but they sell it at sallys beauty supply,it comes in a yellow tub. It works wonders. Or try any beauty supply store in your area,I don't know if there is a sallys where you are or not.
Good Luck

Thanks, I am from New zealand and we dont have Sallys but we do have L oreal stuff around.

Does anyone recommend a brand of hair colour that is not so drying?

Stop using hair color. After checking out possible health issues that might be cause of my hair breaking off, had to finally accept that hair color was doing the damage. I had two choices, stop coloring or go bald. I stopped coloring and now my hair is growing back in slowly.

If you let your hair go natural, there will not be the shock of suddenly going grey later on. A head of healthy hair far out weighs the use of color.

Remember, whether you are a stay at home mom/wife or a professional, which would you rather be, grey or bald? Sometimes it comes down to the wire and the have to make a choice like I had to.

yes i know what you are saying, I am 43 and used to just frost bits but since going a bit grey I am doing a regular all over colour. I thought I might look into the less permanent ones as they arent so chemical. Thanks.

I used Clariol Natural Instincts, a semi-permanent color, but, it caused my hair to break off at the scalp.

Not sure what you will find that will not continue the breakage.

I used to be a hairdresser and believe me I've tried everything. But to be honest, you don't need to spend a whole bunch of money to condition your hair. Buy some olive oil, warm some up and lather that in your hair, put a towel or a bag and leave it in for about 15 to 20 min. The best moisturiser for your hair, I do this once or twice a week. And a little secret( Cindy Crawford uses it all the time and look at her hair)
Hopes this helps!

Will the warm oil lather up? do you just wash it out with shampoo only? thanks.

Well the oil doesn't lather like shampoo, and put it on dry hair, you will see your hair will just drink it up. When you rinse it start by putting shampoo in , lather then rinse and do this until you feel its out, usually 2 or 3 times. Usually i concentrate more on rinsing my roots more cause it seems to be the place where its not dry and where the oil will sit. Sometimes i wasn't able to rinse it all out, but i just figured my hair wouldn't mind a little oil.
Hope this helps!!!

Take Care,
