The first 2 days I had to wear the hospital gown because of the catheter, but felt a whole lot better when I could cover my butt and not worry about mooning the whole ward.... :D SO I took sleep pants and cotton shirt, 2 days worth; socks, undies, slipon shoes (I took slippers plus my sneakers but slippers will be harder to walk in during PT) plus I took CD's and a portable player.

100% cotton shirts are important as they provide a cushion and absorb sweat if you have a brace (and if you have a brace already, DON'T forget to take it as they won't let you out of bed until you have it).. I took shampoo, etc but didn't get to shower; they furnished soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and the wash bin.

Take care and again, we'll be thinking of you and waiting for your post to tell us you came through it like a trooper....

Kristy,
My daughter was in the hospital five days. She wore the hospital gowns the whole time she was in, but did bring her own robe and slippers and underwear. The day she went home she was allowed to shower in the hospital. She did use her own toothbrush and tooth paste any special facail cleansers you may have. She brought a lot of stuff that she never used. She did bring some pictues of her friends and cousins. This made her feel a little comfy looking at them. She received some dvds, but really never watched much in the hospital even though in her room she had a flat screen tv, dvd, vcr and a small refrigerator. Since I stayed at the hospital I know I used those things more than she did. She slept a lot and once in a while looked at a few magazines.

My daughter's dr didn't brace after surgery so we didn't need to bring that with us. Again, best wishes and pack light. cas
