I have heard that Diane 35 isn't supposed to be used as a birth control since it is weak? or something.. it is only prescribed for acne treatment, thats what I am taking it for. I was wondering if one could use the patch and be on Diane at the same time? What would the effects be if any?

Diane is an extremely highly dosed pill. And I would never take two kinds of hormonal BC at the same time, seems very unhealthy to me, and pointless.

It is absolutely unsafe and I don't know of any dr that would prescribe one if he knew you were on the other.
The patch alone delivers 65% more estrogen into the blood stream than the typical birth control pill. Diane 35 also has high levels of estrogen (estradiol). Both Diane 35 and the Patch have ongoing controversy over their high estrogen levels and their potential to increase blood clots compared to other hormonal contraceptives.
I am on the patch but if my hormone levels weren't already low I doubt I would have opted for it because of the high estrogen levels and increased risk of blood clots.
Diane 35 is an effective form of BC. If used properly it has the same contraceptive effect of other pills (99%...the only thing that is 100% effective is total abstinence).
If you're still concerned, continue the Diane 35 and use a barrier method of contraception (condom, diaphram etc...) or go on the patch and take a different med for the acne (I didn't have bad acne but what I did have cleared up entirely after I went on the patch).
You're dr should be able to counsel you in that decision :) .
