I know that oral herpes are very common. cold sores and what not all being connected to herpes... I can't remember coming in contact wiht anybody with a cold sore or herpes or anything so I'm curious about if there are other ways to contract oral herpes

here's the thing.

I usually have small acne breakouts during my time of the month, this time I didn't really break out, but I got pimple like formations on the corner of my mouth. they aren't really sore unless I open my mouth wide butI'm still worried that it could somehow be herepes. Thia started yesterday with a small spot on the inside of my lip...then this afternoon i started to notice another smaller spot on the outside. Throughout the day it's gotten worse, then better then back to worse again. I plan on seeing a doctor as soon as I can...maybe tomorrow, until then what should I do about the breakout f whatever it is. should I ice it to keep it from swelling, should i put oral antiseptics on it or leave it alone?

the only way for you to get oral herpes is:

A) you have oral sex with someone that has a visible sore on their gentials
B) you kiss someone that has an open sore on their lip or mouth.

Otherwise, it is just a pimple. Like, you said everyone has cold sores so try not to get too freaked out. Believe me, you would know the difference if you had a herpe or a cold sore.

Go to the doc anyhow and ask.

Good luck

Thanks. I wasn't sure about contracting it if there were no open sores. I'm 99% positive that my mouth and an open sore of any kind on somebody else have not come in contact and that nobody I've had any sexual contact with has herpes so that is reassuring. I'm still confused about the look of it though. it's more than one sore, it's kind of a small cluster but they did look like pimples and not oopen wouds or anything, and on the inside of my mouth (which i just recently read is severly uncommon for herpes sores) looks kind of like i bit it.

you can transmit HSV1 without the person having an open sore its called Viral Shedding. Approximatly 18% of the time a person without a visible sore is in a viral shredding phase, where the virus can be transfered(assuming they have oral HSV1). You can get oral herpes from sharing cigarettes utensils and other objects as well, like i said they do not need to have a visible sore to get it. cold sores come from HSV1(oral herpes) usually they appear in the same place and are more mild then a herpes outbreak.

Yes! Please be aware that you most certainly can contract herpes when NO SYMPTOMS are present at all. That is what happened to me (and many other people) My ex boyfriend gets cold sores every now and then and he performed oral sex on me once when no visible sore was present on his mouth and now I have genital herpes type 1 (HSV1). PLEASE be aware of this and pass it on to everyone you know! This is why so many people contract it unknowingly!
