Hello everyone! I have suffered on & off with arch pain since I injured both feet through 12 yrs. of ballet. The injury occurred when I was a teen and I am now 47. Took lot's of anti-inflammatories which I can no longer tolerate. Back then the drs told me I had tendinitis and basically I had to learn to live with the pain.

I've been a figure skater for years and skating has actually given me relief from the foot pain. I assume it's from all the stretching that goes on when I skate.

Last year I moved South thinking the warmer climate would help. I worked the front desk of a hotel and was on my feet all day long. This particular hotel does not allow a stool at the desk. They had a padded mat to stand on which helped. I tried all types of shoes but the pain became unbearable. I continued to have pain so saw an ortho last month. He claimed I have misformed bones in my feet and also have Plantar Fascitis. Gave me stretching exercises to do 3xday which have given me relief. He didn't feel I needed orthodics for my shoes.

I really want to work at the front desk of a hotel again and some do offer a stool so I'd get off my feet a bit. But I am really worried that my feet will be painful again. Yesterday I was on my feet all day for a cleaning job...did the exercises through out the day. My feet were sore but not as bad as in the past and the arches didn't swell.

Is it possible to be on your feet all day for a job when you have PF? Or do most of you have a desk job?

Hi Ice Skater: I have a new job, Im on my feet 8 hours a day. I have inserts in my shoes. Gel heels, and three foam pads to cush my feet. It does help me to pad the shoes, but I still have alittle pain. Isnt Plantar Fascitis just a barrel of fun lol. Im going to continue with this job and see how I do. I can sit down, but very briefly here and there. I havent ice skated since Ive had pain with this condition. But this weekend my husband and I are going to go roller skating. I will let you know how it goes. I was thinking that skating would help strength my ankles a bit, then help with this condition.

Take Care
Gayle
