My little guy is almost six months and I would like to start taking him to the pool. I have no idea what kind of swimwear is available for babies  . Are there special diapers or shorts that will contain any "accidents"? Also what kind of floatation and safety devices do you recommend? Thanks! :)

I'm planning on putting my baby in swimming classes when he's 3 months. There are special diapers for the pool, I think they are called "Swimmers". I can't wait to take him, its going to be so much fun. He's 10wks now, so the time is comming soon.

I've been taking my baby to the pool since he was two months old. He loves it! There are actually special diapers available from pampers called "lil swimmers" or something like that. They act kinda like pull ups and tear away when you are done. You could put some shorts on or a onsie over it. If he does poop, you will have to take him out because I'm not sure how well it will contain THAT type of accident :p
Now if you want to use a floatation device, there are these things available that look like a cross between a life jacket and a wet suit. They work GREAT! I am a little wary of any other type, like intertubes, as a baby can fli in them or get trapped. The arm floaties are more for older kids. Sometimes I just hold alex and swim around with him, but as he gets older and stronger, I will get him one of those baby life jackets :) :)
Have fun with your baby! I am sur eyou both will love it!

I used the lil swimmers on my dd, and they don't work well at all, anything that goes into them, comes right out lol, if you use those, I would suggest to put one of those plastic training pant covers over them, this way there is elastic around the legs and the belly, so nothing can get out. good luck
