Okay, this is very embarrasing.

I have a large labia minora, if that's what it's called. Anyway, I was thinking about showing my hubby, and telling him that I want to look into getting labiaplasty done.

So today, I decided to take a good look down there with a mirror. And to my surprise, one side of my labia has a hole right through it! I have never had a peircing down there, and I didn't see this hole a couple of months ago, last time I took a look down there.

Should I have this checked out by my doc? Has anyone else ever noticed this? You think I should be worried?

That is strange. How big is the hole? As far as the labiaplasty goes, I know how you feel. I go for my consult on Feb.6th. Excited but really scared at the same time.

Are you sure it's a hole? Could it just be torn? Hmmmmm i would definately get that checked out. I can also relate to the long labia........and i am still trying to decide on labiaplasty. Why is it that we feel soooooo abnormal, when every vagina looks diferent???

Yeah, it's definately a hole, I can see right through.

It's about the size of say, O , that, a little bigger though. I am very worried. I told my Hubby about it, he thinks that if I am worried, I should go see the doc.

I also told him about my Labia being long, and that I was considering Labiaplasty, But he says there is nothing wrong with me. He likes me tha way I am he said, and I look fine down there to him.

Thank you for your replies, I will keep you updated.

Well I'm getting it done because of how jeans and other fitted clothes feel. VERY uncomfortable. Let us know what the doc says. Good luck (:

I would definitely go have it checked. Does it hurt at all? I had a labiaplasty 1 1/2 years ago which was not successful. I had the wedge method which came completely apart. I had my revision surgery yesterday. So far it looks great, but I'm still swollen so it's hard to tell.

My husband thought mine was fine too but I didn't. I was tired of the discomfort and didn't like the way I looked. One side was fine so I only had one side done.

Hi Janart, I iced a lot the first day and it helped. Yesteday I did too much and was more swollen this morning. My husband made me stay in bed all day today. My doctor is being very strict as far as activity goes. She doesn't want a repeat of the first surgery. I can see that it's not going to be perfect, but good enough, pretty symetrical. As long as I have no tenderness and it's fairly nice looking I'll be happy. Just having it not hanging is great.

I ended up using the doctor that messed up the first time. I just couldn't afford to go else where. She seems to make things right. This time she used non disolveable stitches this time just to be sure, so I'll have to get them removed in about a week. I was expecting that, but she thought because of what happened last time she wanted to be extra careful.

Who are you going to? I hope everything goes well.

Just to let you know. I took a better look at myself in the shower. And there is a hole on both sides. The other side, the hole is not as big, but there none the less. I am completely puzzled by this. I have an apt. with my doc in less than an hour. I'll get back on asap to let you know what he says.
I have a feeling he won't know anything and just refer me to a gyn.
I kinda hope that he doesn't tell me that this is normal, or okay. I hope there Is something that can be done.
It didn't hurt, still doesn't. But I think I will tell him that it does hurt a bit, to try and ensure that they do something about it.
I was wondering if it could be like "wear and tear" from rubbing on my panties or something. But then other women with large labias would've experienced this as well. Ahh hell, I am confused. Hopefully I get some answers today.

Okay, went to the doc. pretty dissapointed but releived at the same time.

She said there are no signs of infection, or erosion. She has never seen this before, but is sure that it's just the way that I am made, and that I am perfectly healthy. Nothing about the fact that I have a little larger labia came up, so I don't think it has anything to do with it.

The reason I am disappointed is because I don't really like it. I was kinda hoping there would be a treatment or something. I also kinda thought it might qualify me to have Insurance Covered Labiaplasty. Haha, wishful thinking I know.

But I have my health, and that is more than most people have.

Thankyou all for your concern.

And Warmbreeze, and Janart, best of luck with your procedure, and healing process!

MyAlterEgo, glad to know that you are healthy. Does your doctor think that the hole has always been there and you just haven't noticed it? It seems impossible that you wouldn't have noticed it.

Thank you for the well wishes. I can already see that I'm improved but not thrilled with the shape of my altered side. At least it's way shorter and no longer rubbing on my underwear. It's very acceptable, but I probably won't be posing for Playboy anytime soon, lol. By the way my insurance did pay for it. It was causing discomfort so it becomes medical. Give it a try if you decide to have the surgery. It's all in how you describe the discomfort to your doctor and whether your doctor is willing to present it to the insurance company as a medical necessity.

Thank you for the advice. Are you in the US or in Canada? I think this makes a huge difference in what role insurance plays, no? I really have no clue.

hey ladies (:
Warmbreeze I hope you are right about the insurance. I'm driving 4 hours Monday to a doc for my consult. Since we are trying to file with insurance I have to make two trips ): I'm taking my paperwork from my gynacologist visit but she didn't recommend surgery because she thought it was normal. But she said she had only done a few. She apparently didn't want to do the surgery so she brushed me off. You know what she told me? She said to avoid tight clothing and to never sleep in underwear. Ticked me off!!
So anyway I don't know that this doc needs to send these papers with his to my insurance company. I have to wait till they hear from my ins.co. before I schedule the surgery. Even if they pay, it will be out of network and will only pay 70% But thats better than nothing. Man I dread the trip. I will keep yall updated if you want. Oh and I think they use the laser at this place, warmbreeze what are your thoughts on that??

MyAlterEgo, I am in the US? Are you in Canada?

Janart, I'm not too familiar with laser. I don't think it would have worked well with me though. Do they laser the excess skin off? The reason my doctor did the wedge method on me is because my labia was rather thick and dark. She feared if she just trimmed it off I would have a think edge and it would be a very different color than the labia that I wasn't having surgery on. She was right, the only problem is that she wasn't familiar enough to do a good job with the wedge method. Every day I feel differently about how my labia is turning out, today I hate it. I've been doing to much so it's irritated and swollen right now. Tomorrow I plan on being a couch potato.

Make sure your doctor is experienced. Make sure you express the discomfort aspect more than the aesthetic aspect.

When you update us, start a new thread. This one is getting too long and it's against the rules to let the threads get too long. Good luck.
