I'm having some problems, and trying to find out if maybe my past vicodin use is the cause. I used to take vicodin occasionally while going through dental surgery. But after a while I found that without it, I would get this horrible pain in my stomach..essentially it was like i had to go to the bathroom really badly, even when that wasnt the case. Very embarassing really, but the doctors did a lot of tests and i went to a pain managment doctor. He put me on 75 vicodin every two weeks..But after a while there was some strangeness, and suddenly i was pulled off of it completely, with no warning. Its been about three months and i havent gotten better. I thought it was withdrawl but emotionally, except from misery from the pain, I feel great now. Have for a couple months. But the pain is here every day, when i go to sleep, when i wake up especially..Im just trying to see if its from the vicodin from threem onths ago, even though its been so long? I mean, everything else has gotten better..shouldnt there be some improvement?

Have you seen a gastrologist? Did you check for ulsers? Dumb question, that is probl the first thing your doc looked for....Anyway,I was hooked for several years and never had this problem, nor have I come accross any posts that complain of this. But I don't know how much damage they could do to your stomach lining, prob allot and all people have diff. sensativities. I would recommend seeing a specialist on this.

Well, I had a bunch of tests done. All the blood screenings said all my organs and such, even liver, were incredibly healthy. I had a CT scan that showed nothing abnormal at all. I havent seen a gastrologist yet, but im seeing my doctor next week to possibly get a referral. if there was damage, it probably would have showedu p on that CT scan. The thing is, the vicodin was the only stuff that cured it. And it did, immediatly, and with no real side effects. Thats why i thought it might have been..I supposei 'll let the doctors decide that, but i was just wondering where i should look for a cause.

Not a bad idea to look on this board, maybe one of us chronic users will have had a similar experience. Or go check out the other board that address gastrointestinal (sp?) problems. Perhaps that could help?
Wishing you well,

I think i'll do that. But I was just wondering..should I tell my doctor that i had trouble finding anyone with the symptoms? Im trying desperatly to get back on the medicine (which I know isnt advised usually on this board), at least until they can figure out my problem. My pain managment doctor was so nervous about being investigated or something. It was an awful situation..I tried to get my perscription a day early, and he said yes..then later said no, and wouldnt let me get in contact with him. I wanted it early so I wouldnt miss work the next day. I went over to his office to talk to him, and it seems he was mad about me getting the perscriptions filled on wednesdays instead of thursdays...So he ended my treatment right then, off of 150 vicodin a month, without any warning! I can see being upset, but was that really necessary? I mean..all I did was get one day off...Well, sorry or ranting, and thanks for listening..The whole situation just has me so upset, since im in a lot of pain i shouldnt be. the pain amanagement doctor refused to treat me not only right before the holidays started, but right before my college semester started (had to give it up), and when i was getting my life back on track. I want things to get back to normal again quickly, but cant when im like this.
