In September i recieved unprotected oral sex and have not had any previous sexual experiences. Nine weeks after the possible exposure i had a fever that kept going up and down. The peak being 102. It went away in three to four days, with one pill of theraflu. From the start of the fever to the end was about three to four days. Two weeks later i got a bad cold sore breakout which i hadnt had in about a year or so.
Note: before the fever i had a weekend of drinking and before the cold sore outbreak i also had a night of heavy drinking.
Could these be signs of Primary HIV infection?
Could it be syphilis or any other STD?
I've heard that unprotected oral sex is very safe, what are the odds this is HIV?

Only your doctor can know for sure. Good luck!

You sexual activity is considered a "no risk" behavior. As long as what you are telling us is the truth and is factual, then receptive oral is, as I said, no risk. However, don't think you've esaped the bullet. While your symptoms are not indicative of either HIV or syphillis, it is possible to contract an STD through oral sex. For example, clammydia, gonnorhea, and syphillis are examples of STDs that can be contracted this way.

However, the symptoms you descrbed (a fever and a cold) are not indicative of either HIV or syphillis primary symtoms. And, please understand, with regard to HIV, you simply cannot determine your HIV status by symptoms. Sometimes, a fever and a cold are, simply, a fever and a cold. chris

Thanks for the advice and for everybody elses. But i had a cold SORE breakout which is caused by HPV-1 which i know ive had since birth. I am wondering if this could be a sign of HIV symptoms, because it was a pretty massive breakout which i hadnt had for a long long time. I also want to say that during the fever i had headaches, weakness, and a slight case of sore throat. Any advice would be appreciated. Also do the odds of getting HIV increase if the person deepthroats your genitalia.

I would be pretty certain that, while coincidental, these are unrelated issues. I owuld be much more concerned if you had been the person giving the oral and your partner had ejaculated in your mouth. Again, receptive oral is considered, from everything I've read and everyone I've talked with, no risk. However, if you perseverate on the possibilities of this being an HIV encounter, then you owe it to your own peace of mind to be tested. chris

Acute HIV syndrom manifest itself only 2-4 weeks after exposure. NOT 9 weeks. YOU ARE NOT INFECTED. Relax and go home!
