View Full Version : Is it really autism

Hi

My 5 year old son, Connor, was diagnosed with PDD about a year ago.

He developed normally until 3 and then he suddenly stopped talking.

Now he does not talk at all - except for saying Mommy and Daddy.

He's going for speech, OT and he is in a special playgroup.

He mouths everything but there is just no sound.

Connor doesn't have any other "autistic" traits - Loves socializing

I'm not sure if its PDD or if it might be something different. Does anyone have any thoughts????

Thanks so much
Lindy

Does he play with toys? Like make plastic animals fight or cars drive around?
Does he respond to whatever you say? Does he understand everything you say. Does he get frustrated when nothing comes out of his mouth?
If you as a parent feel the only issue he has is saying the word, he could just have Aproxia. If he is at the level he should be for his age, it just may be Aproxia.
Good Luck.
