Found a lump last night on the back of my sons neck. He wasnt even aware it was there. It is very hard and doesnt move much. He says it is not tender or painful. I told him to have the school nurse check it when he got to school this morning. She called and told me that he has another one on the side of his neck as well and that I need to have him examined by his doctor. I've been crying all day. I'm terrified! My son has also been complaining at night that he can't sleep because he gets SO HOT! He hasnt been running a fever. Other than all that, he seems fine. Eating fine, etc....

Please.......doctor can't see him until Monday........can anyone help me understand what this might be?

Try to calm down a little. I know it's not easy. I know kids who have had noticeable lymph nodes on the back of their neck and it was nothing at all. As far as being hot at night, the HEAT is on in the house. The house is dry. He probably has lots of covers on. Don't freak out yet. This could be anything at all and very possibly it's nothing. Have it checked out by the pediatrician and see what he thinks. I'm sure they'll see you this weekend if they understand how concerned you are.

Thank you Debbiefix..........I appreciate your response and advice. My husband thinks it is hormones raging. My 12 year old has just grown a foot and developed a pretty apparent mustache......I'm hoping all it is is hormones.......
