I've had fatty liver for 15 years and took fish oil for about 3 years and it didn't change a thing with the fat in my liver..or the enzyme count. It did help my cholesterol numbers though--lowered them.

Thank you for your reply..You had fatty liver for 15 yrs? I just found out i had it. I was scared i was going to die already...The doc never said that i had fatty liver but they said i had small fat filtration on my liver. my enzymes were high but now they are normal. i think they were high because i was taking tylonal 3 for a while..I am trying to get the doc. to put in a consalt for me to go to specliast but the military takes awhile to do all that..What can i do to make it not get any worse? I am not over weight. I do have a little bit of weight in my stomach i have had 4 kids. but this is the first time that i couldnt loose it all..but i am still in my weight bracket. Anyways do you know what is good for me to try? Thank you again for everything..

I was not overweight when I got diagnosed with it either. I had "fatty infiltration of the liver" when it showed up on ultrasound---then numerous ct scans over the years have shown it too. I also had high liver enzymes, and those seem to go up and come down on their own. They were seriously high at one point and they were gonna do a liver biopsy, but I got scared and just watched what I ate and put into my body for a month, that brought the enzymes back down.
Just within the last 3 months, I've been doing liver flushing. It gets rid of those stones and build up in your liver. My enzymes that were 40+ (normal was 0-40) are now 14 and 15, so the flushing has definitely helped in that respect.
Andreas Moritz has a book called "The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush" which tells everything you need to know about flushing and the care of your liver. Flushing really is a remarkable thing.
Don't be scared about fatty liver---it can be controlled. Just don't let it go for years and years without trying to treat it because it can turn into cirrhosis in some people. Watch your carb intake, your sugars, and keep the drugs to a minimum---drugs are metabolized through your liver and cause it to be stressed.

I honestly can't tell you what drugs to take---I'm like you---scared to take anything for fear it's doing more damage. If I HAVE to take something, I take ibuprofen for pain. I never take them every 4 hours and I usually only take 1 or 2 at the most.
I've read about castor oil packs for pain during liver flushing--I can't see why that wouldn't work for your type of pain. Maybe do a search on the net to see if you can find natural healing type pain relief? Take care.

Acetaminophen(tylenol) will elevate your enzymes-usually if they're up the first thing the dr asks is if you've been on tylenol. Take Ibuprofen - but not more than the recommended amt and you'll be fine. My liver failed and I was on the transplant list, but ended up not needing one. My enzymes were AST 3900/ALT 7900 and I was in a coma-but lived thru it. The normal range will vary from lab to lab, but the ALF consideres 5-45 and 7-65 normal ranges for ast/alt. My liver shut down and wasn't removing anything from my system so everything became toxic to me. My liver regenerated itself. The transplant team said I could take anything a 'normal' person takes--and advil is easier than tylenol... I had a hysterectomy 4 mos aft having twins so I kow where you're at w/the pain thing...and sometimes you just need the relief. Since you're still having pain don't do a liver flush until consulting your dr -while they're a good thing for some ppl, they can do more harm than good in others. I wish my liver prob was able to be helped by a liver flush--but for me it would harm it more. Inyour dreams is lucky--and I can see why she advocates them b/c it worked wonders for her.
Like inyourdreams mentioned, fatty liver can be contolled w/diet changes...it can be reversed in 6-8 weeks. I had it for years and am/was not overweight either. Two mos aft I changed my diet, it was almost gone. I know it's scary to hear you have fatty liver, but it's not life threatening. Most ppl have it and don't know it unless they are checked by CT or U/S for something else, then it's seen on the scan. It's also something that can come and go depending on your diet. Stress can also elevate your #'s--and with 4 kids and your concern over your liver I'm sure it's not helping. Hang in there--hope you feel better.
