Hi everyone. I am new to this board, usually post on the thyroid board. I am a 23 year old female and I believe I have been suffering from anxiety for about 2 years. My symptoms are shakiness, weakness, hot then cold flashes, fatigue, heart palpitations and lump in throat feeling, muscle twitches, electric feelings throughout my body, heartburn, headaches, excessive worrying, over-emotional, not wanting to do normal activities, and the list goes on. I usually start with a thick throat feeling and then things get worse from there. I will go days feeling horrible and nervous with a contant "butterfly" feeling in my stomach, and then I might feel better for a few days or weeks but it ALWAYS returns. Last May my dr. diagnosed me with GERD and tachycardia and prescribed me Xanax .25 mg WHEN NEEDED. Personally, I don't think that did anything. I would like to know if anyone else can relate to these symptoms and how did you go about getting help! I feel that I haven't been taken seriously by my doctors and I can't go on like this anymore! I want to feel normal...whatever that is  My doctor ordered a CBC and thyroid test on me, called me on the phone, said "you're normal" and that was about it! Other than high cholesterol and triglycerides, he said my blood tests looked fine so there was no reason I should feel this way! ANY advice would be appreciated. BTW my mom has panic attacks and anxiety attacks, don't know if that means anything. I can pinpoint the first time I felt this way as well, and it's continued on and off since then.

Thanks!
Amber

welcome
anxiety and panic attacks are often inherited and as you would know all the problems you mention can be from anxiety or thyroid levels that are out
GERD is often caused by anxiety
you do need to find new and more effective ways of calming and relaxing yourself
xanax is useful but ask doc about upping the dose

stay with us :jester:
