Soveryscared 01-30-2006, 05:41 PM Negative :) But I still can't breath totally easy since it's only been 4 weeks after possible exposure, right?? I have to retest again at 3 months.
I'm trying to stay positive but I am still a bit nervous.
How accurate is a result at 4 weeks. I was reading lastnight on WebMD and it stated at 1 mth post exposure testing nowadays is 95% accurate??
Well, I hope this finds everyone doing well.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Soveryscared 01-30-2006, 08:06 PM Hi Chris,
Well what do you think? 95% accurate? I mean, I DO plan to test again in March but I just want to know if there is a possibilty the outcome could be positive next time.
I'm thrilled, don't get me wrong but still nervous!!!
Thanks for your response hun!
Hope this finds you doing well.
Tracy

c2108 01-30-2006, 10:16 PM hey Tracy,
Congrats on the good news so far :).....negative at 4 weeks is veeery encouraging, but get your 3 month test like you said you'd do anyways......it has been said on this board that if you test negative at 6 weeks, then it'll be the same at 3 months......so if you can bring the courage to do it again in two weeks, then you'll get an even better indication......for most who come on here, testing is the toughest part, but for me when I had my scare last summer, I got tested about every 3 weeks, more than anything for peace of mind.......but just to echo chris - who knows waaaaaaaaaay more than me anyways - things look quite good for ya hun!......good luck :)
TexGuy22 01-30-2006, 10:18 PM The Test is 50% accurate. CDC says 50% of people develop antibodies within 4 weeks. Did you have any acute HIV symptoms anyway. If you haven't I would not worry!
Soveryscared 01-30-2006, 10:50 PM Well Chris is telling me I have won the game and now TexGuy is telling me I have a 50% chance
What would be acute symptoms?? I know I've read this a zillion times but I can't think straight right now.
Hugs!
Tracy
313det19 01-30-2006, 11:49 PM well..i think that it is pretty accurate..CDC says that u can get tested as early as 2 weeks to 8 weeks....but its just safe to wait 3mths for 1000% accuracy..i got tested at 3 weeks and a little...but imma test again at 6 weeks...thats what my doc said that at 6 weeks i can be happy w/the results..
c2108 01-31-2006, 12:10 AM well Tracy, rule number 1 of the reliable posters on this board is that symptoms mean absolutely NOTHING!!....i learned that one real quick...lol....so don't even pay attention to it.....in fact, the anxiety and stress will probably just trick you into making you feel things.....
the numbers the CDC uses are made with caution from their end......if you go through posts on this board you'll read posts where some have spoken to people in the field who say that a large majority will have an accurate test before 3 months....closer to 6 or 8 weeks........put a lot of faith in what people like chris are telling you.....he absolutely knows his stuff!
dazednconfusous 01-31-2006, 09:32 AM Im so glad to hear that you tested negative, it must be like a huge weight off your shoulders, This is an enormously good sign that you will be fine but you still have to wait to retest, until then you can relax with your results.
panaSONIQUE 01-31-2006, 05:10 PM CONGRATULATIONS...You're almost done! But i agree with Chris..I would bank on a neagtive more then anything
-S-
Soveryscared 01-31-2006, 07:07 PM Thanks ya'll!
I am PRAYING about it still because I do know it could still be positive but I am hoping the first test is a good sign of good things to come!! :bouncing:
Hugs to all!
Tracy
SPECTACULAR 01-31-2006, 10:06 PM God bless you, Tracy!
Soveryscared 01-31-2006, 10:30 PM Thanks hun!
I'm still a bit nervous, but I pray everything will be OK!
Is there anyone here that tested negative at 4 weeks then positive at 3 mths?
I'm TRYING to be positive, I promise!!!!!!
Hugs
countrybluet 02-10-2006, 07:51 AM I am glad to hear of your results!!!!
I was wondering if you have spoken to the man you were with or his family?
Soveryscared 02-10-2006, 06:05 PM Thanks so much but I'm still not resting easy, especially lately since I've had a sore throat off and on and a small cold but then again it is going around the office and it's pretty cold too!!!
He called me in Jan. and said he wanted to talk to me and promised he would call when he had more time but I didn't hear from him other than a couple of text messages on my cell phone.I did hear from my sister in law via email (His sister) and she said she was very ashamed and hurt by his actions, etc. but that doesn't help matters really.
I can't dwell on that though or else it will just make things worse, ya know?
Thanks for checking in on me!!!!
Hugs,
Tracy
last1 02-10-2006, 11:39 PM sovery: about the negative at 4 weeks/positive at 13 weeks thing: don't go looking for a needle in haystack. You don't need all the negative power you are dumping on yourself. "I will be OK!" - that will be your mantra until this race is done, OK?
Oh, and about 'Junior'? Tell him you've just gotten a bigger family of people you've never met but who love and care for you more than he ever did...chris
Soveryscared 02-10-2006, 11:56 PM Thank you so very much, Chris. You guys are SO awesome! Everyone one of you are in my thoughts and in my prayers everynight before I go to bed.
I'm not worried about "Junior" anymore. I feel sorry for him because of the way he is living his life.
I want to believe I am going to be ok since I was negative at 4 weeks but I know there is always a chance.. so I will stay as positive as I can!!!!
Thanks again!!!
Much love,
Tracy
