I have had orthotics for 21 months due to overpronation in my right foot. I have had chronic back pain for 12 years and believe it was because no one sent me to have my feet checked. Although I have a lot less pain my right foot doesnt fully function as well as my left. I know because of the o/p I lost the use of my big toe and couldnt lift up my shoes so to compensate I always walked with my right foot pointed to the side more. I think some muscles in my foot/legs are probably tight/weak? dont know which. Dont know what to stretch and what to strengthen. Its pretty slack they put these orthotics in your shoes and expect them to work miracles. I have spent so much on my back pain I just want to fix this myself. Thanks.

If you cannot lift your toe, I think that you have a tendon tear. What did the dr. say about this?

My podiatrist said when she first assessed me that because of the overpronation I wasnt toeing-off, so I guess it has weakened due to lack of use but the right top side of my foot feels tight and the muscles there have been compensating for the lack of big toe usage, I can lift the toe but it is weak and stiffish. My podiatrist didnt give any exercises and seemed to think the orthotics was a cure-all. Thanks.
