Hi, (weird question)

I've been on effexor for 5 months now for depression/anxiety and i'm expericing some memory loss! I'm a student in university going in the teaching field (high school) I was wondering if there are any teachers on antidepressant (like while their teaching)?

Thanks!

I don't know if there are any teachers on this board posting in depression but I am sure there are teachers who take anti-depressant medication. I am sure there are people in every profession who take them.

Hi,

I have been battling depression for awhile now...and I have recently had memory loss also....I am on Paxil 30mg and seroquel 100mg....He said that severe depression can cause short term memory loss...more than likely its not the pills.....I dont know about the medicine you were talking about ....but thought I would share what my doc. said.... :) Good luck to you!!

Teachers get mental illnesses just like everyone else, and I'm sure many more are on SSRI's than we realize. I know my neuroscience professor is on anti-depressants for SAD. It's not as if it affects their teaching, just like it doesn't affect our schoolwork. If you don't tell anyone, it's pretty much impossible to know...
