Ok well. I first sprained my ankle 5 years ago playing basketball with my brother.I continued to flip and sprain my ankle nonstop for another year until i went to the doctor finally. My doctor told me that i had a reoccuring sprain and would need to have a lateral ankle stabilization to correct it. I had my first surgery in april of 2002. I was told when i had the surgery done that it was next to impossible to damage what was done during surgery if i was to sprain my ankle again. I fell out of my fiances truck and sprained it again and once again i started flipping it and spraining it all the time again.i went back to the same doctor and had the surgery done once again which wasjune of 2004. after both surgerys i was on a cast for 6 weeks and a brace for 3weeks. this was near 2years ago and i am nonstop having horrible pain in my ankle.I cant even walk for more than 20minutes without having to sit down and rest my foot and i am always in pain from it.everytime i do stay on it for 20minutes or so i end up having a bruised and swollen foot.and im really sick of the pain because it hurts so bad. Please tell me if anyone has had the same problem ?

Do you know what kind of surgery you had (Brostrom, Chrisman-Snook, Evans...)? What does your surgeon say about your continued pain? Have you gotten a second opinion?

I had a repair (Brostrom, Evans) two years ago. I actually did sprain it a month ago and it hurt for a while, but it's healed up fine and I didn't actually do any damage to the surgical repair, just sprained some other ligaments. So I don't really have any experience with ongoing pain after the surgery, or a second surgery.

I would definitely seek out a second opinion, because it sounds like something isn't right in there.
