I have had a headache for over three weeks that was getting worse so I decided to go to the ER Sunday. They did a CT and a lumbar puncture and both came back clear. I still have my headache (same headache as before - no better, no worse), and now I have horrible pain in my back where they did the LP. I have tried looking online to see if this is a normal side effect of the procedure and can't really find a definite answer. Has anyone else had an LP and had lower back pain afterwards? It has been almost two days. Thanks.

I had an lp done back in sept testing for ms. I suffered with a severe headache for a week and major backache for about 3 weeks. they say it's normal. Try not to bend your back if you don't have to. Keep it as straight as possible, something about the puncture wound in your spinal column needing to close & heal. Best of luck to you. I promise it will pass. Try taking ibuprophine for the inflamation.
