Cyclist

Hi,
I visited my podiatrist for the last x-ray today -- and I'm done! (Well, except for getting my second foot totally back in shape.)
I had bunion/foot reconstruction surgery in Feb 2005 and Oct 2005 and was non-weight bearing for 5 months last year on one foot or the other. Whew!
It took a long time to recover and a lot of determination, but I am glad I had the surgeries. (If you search on the word 'Cyclist' you can see my previous postings documenting my experiences.)
To get my second foot back in shape, I'm walking each morning and riding my bike (which is mounted on a trainer). Every day the foot/ankle gets a little better.
My right foot is about 95% recovered from the surgery, and I have most of my range of motion back in it. I expect my left foot will take about a year to fully recover, too.
Every once in a while, I have a twinge or two to remind me that I've had surgeries, but for the most part, my surgeries have been problem free.
I'm saddened to read on this forum that so many of you have had less-than-satisfactory results from your surgeries. Don't give up . . . keep looking for the solution/doctor that is right for you.
But . . . it does take TIME to heal and recover. For me, it's been worth it!
Thank you for all the advice you've shared with me. This forum has been a tremendous source of help and support.
