Worried guy

I had an HIV test done. It was the ELISA test, but not the blood test. Instead they had me put a cotton (or something that looked like cotton) between my cheek and gum. How accurate is this test, the oral test, compared to the blood test? I had a mouth ulcer right where i put the appartaus. Plus my gums were swelled and hurting. Will this affect my results?

I think your referring to the oralsure test, its about as acurate as the blood test, I doubt that your mouth ulcer would interfere with the results

I would also like to add they didnt ask me to swab the top or the bottom of my gums. Just to put it between my bottom cheek and gum. Would this affect the results? ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you were tested at a reputable place, I think everything is okay. There's no reason someone with the right training and practice would hinder your test results...and if the ulcer was an issue, im sure they'd ask you right off the bat if you had herpes, cankers, that sort of thing.
I don't have much expertise when it comes to orasure, but I think everything is a-ok. If not, reaasure yourself by getting and ELISA done
Best of luck..no more "worried guy"..it's "happy guy"!
