Hi all,

A friend on the board asked me to repost this message as apparently it helped a number of people. The book is Alzheimer's Essentials Practical Skills for Caregivers. Did anyone else get the book? It really has helped, I've recommended it several times to others.

Been to busy between grandma and dad, it's insaine the variety of dementia's one is more memory loss, the other behavior...sometimes I don't get it. But recently my doctor told me about a book that he had read, I got it and read it and thought it was of value.

I wanted to let others know about it because it was easy to read and very short, like 136 pages, Anyway, I really understood a lot from it and didn't feel overwhelmed by it like I did the 36 hour day.

Anyway the book is called Alzheimer's Essentials, Practical Skills for Caregivers. I got it at the publishers site as the doctor had a coupon for a discount copy, publisher is Carma Medical Publishing, or Carma Publishing I think. I saw it the local bookstore too.

Anyway wanted to pass on the info as it maybe helpful to someone else that needs the help understand this whole mess. Good luck! Let me know if you read it too.

Blessings.

Hi,

I bought the book, but have not had a chance to read it yet! I am going to try this weekend. What hooked me into buying it, was when you said, it was only so and so many pages!!! :> I had it ordered from Barnes and Nobles bookstore. Only 123 Pages!!! :> Mine was $12.95, the regular price.

I am sure it will help me greatly with my dad and mom. After I read it, I may give it to my mom or my sister. Except that my mom has dementia too. So, she probably would not read it! So, my sis it is!!!

Thanks for the recommendation. I have another book, I had to go and look at the name - it is the 36 Hour Day!!! :> I started reading it, and just had to stop. I could not wade thru it. Maybe another time?!

Ladies, I will give your an update after this weekend - hopefully!!! :>

Love, Wannabe
