Would like to hear opinions from any Medicare Private Fee for Service plan members. I'm considering enrolling in one and would appreciate input.

My husband has had Humana Advantage Gold pffs plan for the last year, and has been very satisfied, but we are considering going back to original Medicare with a gap policy because we are worried that if we were travelling in another state we might not be covered. The policy reads that the hospital and doctors must accept the plan payments. Questioning Humana, they say that as long as they accept original medicare we would be covered as they pay at the same rate as Medicare. However, we fear that would leave us open to paying whatever would be paid be a gap policy. Don't know if that is a valid fear or not, and really hate giving up the low monthly fee of only $35 which includes drug coverage. In any case, you can try out the advantage plans and then go back to Medicare, but rules on doing so have just changed. We only have a few days to get back into Medicare and obtain a gap policy without filling out health forms. We'd love to hear from someone who has run into the problem of needing to use an Advantage plan away from their coverage area.

Most of your true Emergencies will be handled just like any other Insurance. But a case of the sniffles while out of town and a trip to an immediate care center may not be allowed and denied, causing you to submit to an appeal.

Check with the SSA/CMS website, they have a really nice comparison chart for plans they have contracts with.

Also check with several different liscenced agents in your area.

I also heard humana was a good plan. and as far as i know medicare advantage plans like hmos and ppos are suppose to fully cover what Medicare A and B is suppose to cover...even drugs. As for supplements...unless you have Medicare part D also...if you just get Medicare A and B and suppplements, there is no drug coverage...you can try asking some people at KCAL
