I am assuming I am going through one of those plateaus. I am going nuts eating well while everyone around me eats junk and my 2 y.o. eats mac and cheese. I have gained a pound in the last week instead of my normal loss of 2 lbs. Is this common? Should I change my intake for a couple days? Someone please tell me not give in out of frustration. I am down from 267 to 215. 12 lbs since 1st week of january.

Keep it up, keep it up, shelliam!!! Fifty pounds is one heck of an accomplishment! :bouncing:

Plateaus are common for many people following all sorts of weight loss programs. For those of us who lose larger amounts of weight, I think the body needs to adjust every so often and get used to the difference (or something like that).

Strive not to stress out over it (stress can hinder weight loss!). When I can shift my thinking and have in mind that my objective is to become more healthy, rather than simply to lose weight, I do a lot better.

Absolutely,

NOBODY has ever dieted without hitting a couple tediously long plateus, sometimes months long.

Weight gain over a week while sticking to plan is just a water retention thing that passes quickly. It can oftten be traced to some particularly salty food (I gained 3 pounds overnight from a Chinese restaurant with a large salty wonton soup and soy sauce on my rice...and probably a salty Orange Beef as well though after the soup my salt sensors were deadened.

Before I jettisoned Atkins, I lived with a 5 month plateau  while following the rules...talk about STRESSFUL!
