I have been on celexa for a year and a half and have started to take trazodone as well. I feel anxious all the time my stress level is off the charts most of the time and I am pulling back from everyone. I am spiralling down and I know it but I can't seem to stop it. The times I do get up and go to see people I am always convinced I am not really wanted there. I am so lonely and scared and I don't think anyone really knows that. I have even started not sharing with my doctor, who is excellent and always tries to help, and then I just beat up on myself for being dumb. I guess I haven't really got a specific question but just need to tell someone, if anyone has some tips or advice please share!! Leah M

Maybe you might want to change from celexa to a
different med. Ask your doctor about Lexapro. It
is going to the top and will overtake celexa in time.
Trazodone should not be a problem, depending on the
mg. Sounds like maybe the medication is not working
for you. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for repying I think I have known for a while that I need new meds it is just hard to keep switching!! I almost feel as if I am failing at something. I have an appointment in the morning so I will talk to my doctor then. I am just tired of switching meds and they seem to get more and more expensive. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tired.gif & http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/confused.gif

Pinkcat,
I read your post and was in shock for a few minutes, then turned to my husband and asked him : Hey, didn't this happen to me and wasn't this what we found. The following is what happened and what I took to my doctor to address. I'm supplying you this information from the website. Because of the posting policy, I cannot supply the website, it would be considered free advertising....I guess the best way to do this is if you want to contact me on the SUBJECT you can. My address is Numin0us@aol.com (My hubby says to make sure yall know its a zero not an o.) I am making no judgements nor am I pointing any fingers. I hope this helps.....

P.s. I've even supplied MY pharmacist with this link - he was ecstatic to get it!
The following is what came up when you use a drug digest page to look for reactions between medication being taken:
CITALOPRAM (in Celexa) may interact with TRAZODONE
Both citalopram and trazodone have an effect on serotonin, a chemical that is found in the brain. Excess levels of serotonin in the brain may cause serious or potentially life-threatening side effects. Early signs of this problem include increased confusion and restlessness. Other possible symptoms may include weakness, fever, nausea, and anxiety. In rare cases, high levels of serotonin in the brain may cause severe complications like seizures, stroke, and even death. If citalopram and trazodone are used together, it may be best to start with very low doses of each drug under the careful supervision of your doctor. You may want to ask your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you think you are having problems.
This interaction is poorly documented and is considered major in severity.
