I know there is a thread about this somewhere but I can't find it. I was going to buy one for DS, but I am worried his neck isn't strong enough to support his head. He is 11wks and its for 3mos+. Am I just being paranoid? Also, he was 14lbs 11oz at his 2mo check up, the jumper goes up to 28lbs, is it worth the purchase? I just know he'd love it as he is so active and loves to push himself around when anyone holds him. I just don't want to buy it if he's going to grow out of it so fast!

well the only thing you can do is get it and try him in it, if not yet try again in a few weeks. I have this one, but I bought used a jumperoo, it is free standing like a swing with a seat like a walker and a few toys attached, bout $50 in walmart, but soooooo worth it. ds is 16 lbs and LOVES it. good luck

If he has good neck/head control he should be fine. I don't know how old DS was when he started using his but he had a very strong neck so I wasn't worried. Like Hugs said you can try it and see, if you feel his neck isn't strong enough then try it again in a few weeks. I think they are worth it. Check other brands weight capabilities and you may find one that holds more weight. I figure by the time DS starts crawling he will be heavy enough that the jumper will have to get packed up. He is 5 months old and weighs around 20lbs now.

Mine is a Graco and it says:
"Use when your baby can sit upright unaided and hold his head upright, and can support most of his body weight with his legs (about 6 months old)"

By the time my son fit the above criteria he was 22lbs. Mine was given to me second hand by a friend, so it was no loss, but he'll end up only using it about a month or two before it gets packed up as it is only good to 25lbs.

they say sitting by themselves, but my ds is 6 months, and does not sit yet, he rolls both ways, and has ben able to support his weight since like day 1 lol, he is a stander, loves it, now when his feet hit a hard surface, he bounces lol

the jolly jumper says for babies 3months to walking age.

I think I will get it and see if he likes it. He is very active so I am sure he will love it, and its only 30 bucks at our walmart.

are you talking the one you hang in the door or the freestanding one, cause the freestanding one is 54 bucks, but has toys to occupy them. good luck

I'm talking about the freestanding one. It hangs in the door frame.

I just bought the jolly jumper, baby loves to hang on it, but I guess he hasn't figured out what he is supposed to do. He is just 3months, do they learn what to do or do most babies just start hopping away?
