Hey, welcome neighbor! I'm up north just below the Michigan line. We get more snow here than you do, but this year it's been unusually warm, which is great for me!

The man I married was from Germany. In 1970 he became unemployed in NY where we lived, and he got a job over there.

Two years later he lost that job, and found one in Zimbabwe.

That lasted 3 years.

Then we returned to Germany where we stayed until I left in 2000.

Wherever I went I either tutored school children, or taught adult education courses (English as a second language) or taught nursery school.

Yet nothing I had ever seen or done prepared me for the hardest job of my life: Dementia Caregiver!

I also hope to see Australia someday - Sally ... just wait and see, one day we will suddenly appear! (dream on!)

Love,

Martha

Hi -

We lived on the east side of Louisville in St. Matthews from 1988 until 1992 and loved it! We enjoyed Paoli and Brown County, IN, but were on a tight budget and didn't travel much unless it was south or east to visit family. That was when Mom had both oars in the water and neither of us had a clue about what was to come. Sigh!

I'll join you whenever we go to Australia, but let's not go during their summer, okay?! Wish, wish!!

Group hugs! Barbara :)

Me? I've never even seen an ocean much less been across it. Most of my trips were to visit family and in most recent years, shuffling my dad back and forth to my sister's house. But my sister has done most of that the past three years. So here I am at home.....

May I join you ladies when you make your way to Oz??? :)

Love, Barb

I think Sally should tell us of a pub or something where she will leave instructions for us should we ever make our way to Australia for a respite from our caregiving... :D :D :D

A Pub ?? Ladies, check out the Ettamogah Pub the most photographed Pub in the world also a great source of cartoon strips ........ good ol' aussie humour ... do hunt it out. That's about 4.5 hours south of me . .

Summer here is pretty hot .. and now I'm near the Great Barrier Reef (I'm just short of the southern side of it) it's hotter ..... don't go any further north, the heat is disgusting .... Townsville is expecting 42C today ..... that's just horrid in my books ...

Oh .. why do Tuna only go as far as Townsville? Because if they go any further they end up in Cairns ..

Do your geography .. you'll get the joke .... *grin*

And your all part of my extended family now .. so even if it means turfing the kids into a tent downstairs to give you a bed .. consider it done.

Big hugs!!
Sally
(say's she who's never travelled out of her own country and has only just discovered another state LOL)
