The wrong size bra might cause you some discomfort but it won't stop your breasts from growing. Breast tissue is predominently fat. If you gain weight your breasts will get bigger. I was a 34B from the age of about 14 until I started gaining a little weight at around age 34. I'm now a 38D. It's uncomfortable and I'd give anything to be a B cup again. The tops that used to look so cute on me now make me feel like I look "slutty". LOL Plus, I HAVE to wear a bra now. Before the huge boobs I could wear anything, bra or no bra. (sigh)

Oh the age of 16- Be thankful you have a b cup. I don't even remember when I wore a b cup.. I think I was about 11 maybe 12.. Now as an 18 year old, I wear an 38F, almost a G cup.. and bras are hard to come by.. especially ones that are "old lady" bras. No offense to anyone out there!!
Don't worry about having a b cup, most likely you will grow over the next few years. Padded bras are a big help if you want to look bigger, or a push up bra.. my cousin wears a 34A but with a padded bra or push up, you'd never know she was only an a cup.
Good luck!

At 87 pounds you'd look freakish with larger breasts. I didn't weigh much more than you when I was your age....then when I was older I put on weight and went to a C cup...hated it! Was so glad to lose the weight and the breasts. Now I'm back to a b and am very happy...you've got a lot of growing to do so be patient!

Emily,
I couldn't gain weight either. That's why I stayed a B cup for so long. It wasn't until my 30's that I could gain. I hope you can learn to be happy with your size since it's perfectly normal. Not too big, not too small. Titchou is right. If you were any bigger in the bust right now at your weight, it would look strange, and kinda freakish (like Dolly Parton) LOL

Well, there's a wonderful saying that I love to bits and pieces. "More than a handful is wasteful."
I am a 34 D myself. But... I look like a 34A! Hah! That's just the way the dice rolls, I think.

I'm 21 with 34 B and i happen to love my breasts. I dont want to say they are perfect, but they are for me. I am almost always comfortable, and I can go running with a sports bra...
I remember in high school when my best friend was just barely a C and she attracted lots of guys with those. But she wasnt comfortable, and she had to buy tops a size larger to fit her boobs.
So, try not to be concerned with how big they are. But to answer your question, a tight bra with not prevent them from growing, but I would imagine it wouldnt be very comfortable to wear a tight bra. I personally go for the little bit of padding so if i'm cold i'm not sticking out. Plus, I've found that rough shirts dont irritate me with the padding.

If you are a B cup being underweight...look out because when you start to gain, your breasts will be probably very large. Don't worry about being only a B cup...I find is a little bit interesting that you consider a B cup to be small when you are so thin? I don't consider a B cup to be small. I wish my breasts were that large..ha!

I agree with Hope4All, what are you all eating? I am 35 with 3 kids and weigh 103 cant gain weight either, and cant get my boobs to get bigger. Having kids has ruined mine. I would love to be a C cup but that probably wont happen either.

I don't necessarily agree that weight gain causes your boobs to grow. A MASSIVE weight gain might, but between the ages of 13, when I weighed 88 lbs, and 20, when I weighed 120 lbs, my breasts stayed the same size. If you are genetically supposed to have small boobs, you always will, and vice versa.
Also, I think that when you get your period early in life your boobs stop growing earlier, while girls who get their periods later coud have breats growth into their late teens.

I think the age of starting your period does have something to do with when they quit growing. I think we are just dealt with what we have or have surgery. NO THANKS!! I started going through puberty in second grade. By fourth grade I wore a 36c and started having periods that year. I weighed 120lbs. I was completely full grown at fourth grade. It sucked! I felt like such a freak! Then, junior high came and the rest of the girls past my heighth up. I still had bigger boobs than everyone in my class. I just wish they hadn't come at such an early age. I got teased people thinking I stuffed my bra. I wish I did! I also got everything started early and when everyone else needed personal questions answered, they would come to me! It worked out, it was just a couple rough and awkward years.
Now, my youngest sister on the other hand, she was 5"7, 103lbs., and wore a 34DD. Super skinny with big boobs!
Luck of the draw I guess!

Your bra will not stop you from growing...
When I was 16, I have no idea what I was, but I also did not get my first period until I was 14, so I was a late bloomer. I grew more as I matured into a C cup, but that was when I was more like 18-20, and I was always the small girly that weighed barely 115 at 5'7'', and I could outeat any guy I knew and never gained a pound until this last year, and then I gained 15-20 pounds (they said mostly due to hormone imbalance) and I am almost 24, and I grew from a 36 C to a 36 DD in a year... maybe it took longer, but it was not until I went to go shopping and got measured did I notice.. LOL... ack... it is no fun, Now I weigh a bit more than I ever have, so I think that has something to do with it... Everyone thought I had gotten implants.. H*ck no I would never... but I think as you keep maturing and growing you may and may not, you are still only 16, your body does not stop growing and filling out I think until you are in your 20s... at least I think

Well I started my cycle when I was 13 (not sure if that is early or late, just the time everyone I knew got their cycle). My mother said she really had a small chest when she was in her 20's and 30's then when menopause hit they grew LARGE. So they appearantly don't stop when puberty stops. I guess everyone is just totally different. I'm in my late 30's and if I get bigger ok, if not I'm fine with what I have. My cousin and neice both had to have breast reductions to due major back issues, so bigger isn't always better.

I got implants about 15 years ago and have had to have several surgeries (due to leakage). I don't recommend breast implants unless a woman has to get a masectomy, otherwise it is just too risky AND expensive. Small boobs are NOT unattractive, and there is nothing wrong with just wearing a padded bra. No man will love you more because you have implants, and they can attract the wrong kind of attention (as I found out early on after I got them).

i'm really sorry that this is getting you down, but i have to say that i think you should be happy with having a B cup. i am 30 years old and i wear an A. i have been asking myself why won't they grow since i was 16. if i had a B cup, i would be very pleased with how i look, but i don't believe in plastic surgery so i just try to accept myself for what i am, and know that different people have different ideas of what beauty is. not everyone thinks big boobs are sexier than medium sized or small ones. i had a B when i was fat, but i'll take small and slim over fat and boobs any day. i don't think a B is small, an A is small.
