Hey Valerie-
Hows your baby doing? Mine is good. She has developed jaundice since we left the hospital and they had to send us a phototherapy incubator to use in our house until its gone. Its really frustrating since she has to be in it constantly except to feed. She hates it! She has to wear eye patches to protect her eyes and be naked except for a diaper. She was so use to being swaddled, and she does not like to sleep by herself. Always wants to be in your arms or laying next to you. I'm trying to break that. Are you BFing? I'am and its going well. Well hopefully we will hear from the others soon!

That sucks! I hope it goes away soon! When do you have to get her levels checked again? The day we left there was a bit of a hold up becasue they thight Isaiah looked jaudice too and it was up a bit but I just brought him in the following week to get checked and he was fine...My first born was under phototherapy and he had to stay under for a while I know its frustrating..but it will end, keep that in mind! Other than that glad to hear all is well...how is she sleeping? Im am always checking on him, must be paranoid, you'd think after 2 previous childen Id be easier going, lol it has been 5 yrs since my last one though

Yeah, its a big pain in the butt!! We had her levels check today and they were at a 14. She has to be at 12 to be taken off the phototherapy lights. Only two more points! Its better though b/c she was at 18! We will have it checked again this Sunday. She should be done by then. Kailey sleeps ok, if she's not under the incubator. She HATES the thing. So its a challenge to get her to sleep. I can't wait until its done with. Glad to know your Isaiah is doing good. I hear ya on checking on them to make sure they are ok! This is my first, and I'm surprised how much motherly instinct I have, its crazy. Well I told the others back the pregnancy board that we have one here, so maybe we will hear from them soon! TTYL!!

I found you guys!!!!! Thank goodness!!!!! I was starting to miss you guys!!!!!!I think I am going to have a handful ladies... I can't seem to put my little one down!!! Even when she is sleeping!!!! I miss her so much inside me moving around! I love that she is here!!! She is the best, but I am kind of sad too! I need to tell Brooke that she needs to savor the last couple of days that she has with her little precious in there.

Cailyn is doing well... we had her ultrasound on her kidney's (remember they were dialated which means they are bigger than they should be - actully it was just the Left one) done at the hospital and she now has urine backed up into both. I am just waiting to see what the doc is going to say about that on Thursday when we go. It kind of makes mer nervous... I hate it, she is soooo perfect!!!!!!!! But anyways... I am breastfeeding also... I told you guys that I prob wouldnt but I decided too since she did sooo well at it from the get go... I absolutely love it... I tried the pump thing but I couldn't even bring myself to let anyone else feed her... so it went to waste... oh well there is still A LOT being made!!! LOL! Anyways.. well I will talk to you ladies later!!! Glad everyone is doing well.

Robyn & Elisha - are you guys still bleeding "down there"?? Just wondering. It's sooo aggrivating!! Oh ya one more question... you guys with girls... have you seen any blood at all in your baby's vaginal area? two times in her diaper she had like like a drop of blood in her discharge stuff, I calle dthe doc righ away and she said all the hormones could do that, and it was normal, but I was just wondering if you guys had anything like that. It kind of freaked me out! ok... now I am gone! Bye until next time!

Well everything is going well with me and Isaiah he is not sleeping through the night but I dont mind even though Im sleepy and having the other two kids is a lot but dh helps out he let me sleep until 1pm today...god that felt good! I take Isaiah in on Tues for his 2 week check up already! Ill let ya know how much he gained, anyone one else feeling a bit anxious? I know the hormones are still up on the air so Im giving it time I just cant wait until it all feels normal! I love this little guy and forgot all the worries that went along with having a newborn. I said I woudnt breastfeed, I didnt think I would get anymilk in I didnt with the other two but I did and it was too late basically it was 10 days after he was born , and for me to get a good supply i would have had to pump every two hrs and I couldnt afford the $300 pump I needed, so now Im not leaking anymore I figure the supply is just about gone, anyway hes doing well on the similac, poop seems a littlle hard than Id like but other than that he is GREAT

hey ladies,
Glad you all found us! Robyn- I love breast feeding. Its getting so much easier now. And Candice, glad you decided to do it!! Robyn- Kailey has the same problem....has been held so much that she does not like to sleep on her own. And I'm guilty of letting her sleep in the bed with me too! It's easy to do that when your BFing. Candice- My little girl hadthe bloddy discharge too, I was told its normal.

I feel like a milk factory too! Do any of you who re BF have this problem.......
Kailey chokes on my milk at least twice during each feeding. I don't know if my milk is coming out way to fast for her, or if she is not swallowing right or what. I'm going to ask her Ped, next time I talk to her which will be tomorrow when we have her levels checked again for the jaundice.

Candice-yes I'm still bleeding. I have been told that you blled for a few weeks, so I'm not expecting it to stop soon. Though it would be nice. Its hard to go from no blood for 9 months to an overflow of it!!

Ok g2g....Kailey is napping so I'm going to try to get some sleep!!

Hey there dont worry about the choking thing, I asked my pediatricain and its just something they do. I told him it freks me out so he showed me that when they start choking like that to tap on his sternun and he snaps right out of it

Hi all !

I am not bfing - Ava is doing awesome on the Nestle Good Start with Dha and Ara! At her 2 week check up (she was 12 days along) she had gained 1/2 pound and grew 1 inch! She is trying to catch up! when she was born she was 5lbs. 10oz. and when we left the hospital (I had her use the formula in the hospital) she only lost 1 ounce! she was 5lbs. 9 ounces when we left! So she has done great in 12 days gaining a 1/2 pound.

I haven't gotten enough sleep yet - with the house leak and workers in the bedroom etc. - during the day - so I am beat. I am thinking this next week should be better. We have some workers coming on Monday to see if the water traveled under the hardwood floors but we don't think it did - !! fingers crossed - then we only need the wall repaired where they dug a hole in it to find the pipe that was leaking. geez. after that I hope to be able to sneek in sleep during the day.

Little Ava has some flem and wheezing when fed - but she works it out pretty quick. The pediatrician wasn't concerned after checking her - he said if she had a fever he would worry - but no worries so far. Even though she is doing great - he has us keeping her in till the first week of April and not having a ton of people in our home to hold her etc. because she was a month early... just being cautious I guess! its the cold and bug season too.

My little girl didn't have the discharge yet. And Oh my breasts - they had me wear a sports a bra for two weeks - so keep them held tight and they didn't hurt much - got a little bigger - leaked one time (very little) and that is it. Come Monday I am free to not wear a bra - thank god! wearing a sports bra for 14 days is rough!!

And she hasn't been sleeping with us - but we do hold her a lot. she doesn't fit into anything that we have even an infant (papasan) seat thing doesn't fit her yet - so we are going to look next week for something for her to sit in during the day and such. She is now 19 inches long - wow... and I still can't believe when I look at her that she should still be inside me! It amazes me!!

I am enjoying having my body back somewhat - still taking some pain pills - alternating with Ibuprophen and darvocet every 6 hours or so. Sometimes i just skip the meds all afternoon or evening - the scar is doing great! I have glue - holding me together - dermabond its awesome! I wear a binder too - kinda like a back support and it really helped shrink my belly. I have lost 20lbs so far and gained a total of 30 I think.... I haven't weighed myself in a few days and I think having a new baby definitly puts you on a diet!! you dont have time to eat and are too tired to eat! LOL !! but you breastfeeders - you gotta make the time to eat eh?

I am not bleeding - I stopped that at about day 10 after the birth.

Elisha - Ava had jaundice too - a little bit and we had to feed to often and put her by the sunlight (window) and it went away.... I hope yours is improving and or gone by now.

Candice keep us posted on the kidney situation - so sorry to hear about this and that you are nervous I would be too. hang in there. and let us know whats up. saying prayers for ya!

Val so glad that its all falling into place for you! yeah! and your hubby sounds AWESOME!!

OH robyn didn't see your post before I posted. I think its fine to hold your babe as much as you want - it depends though on what you want ultimately down the road though! hee hee!

I have a great book called "baby wise" and its really helping me out. Ava is on a 3-3.5 hour schedule right now on her own from the start of one feeding to the start of the next feeding. I don't wake her or anything yet - the book said for the first two weeks not to - turn your clocks to face the wall and love your little one as much as possible and let them eat on their own time (meaning earlier if they are hungry etc)... she went thru a small growth spurt where she was waking about 2 - 2.5 hours for an entire afternoon.... but that is over for the moment.

Come monday we are trying the schedule --- of every 3 hours and we have to establish a first feeding of the day no matter if she is sleeping or not. that is going to be hard. I think I am going to do the first feeding at 6 or 630am. My hubby leaves for work at 615am every day so that may be a good time. So even if she feeds at 4am - I am to wake her at 6 am yuck. This is in order to get them on a schedule to sleep thru the night by week 8 !! which I am SO hoping happens.... wish me luck on setting this goal and waking her - dont know if I can bring myself to do it - and doubt that I can. LOL!!

XXOO Friday
Glad you got to go outside! I think we can take her outside like you did - we just can't take her to stores etc. or around other people who will want to hold her now... till April 1st.

Hello,
Great news!! Kailey had her blood work today and her Jaundice levels are good. She does'nt have to be under the lights anymore!!! I think Dh and I hate the thing more than she does...lol. We can hold and play with her more now. Robyn- I would'nt worry about holding them too much, I mean they are only this small for short time.

Oh my...This sleep thing is hard! It's getting better though. At first Kailey cried a lot to be fed. I think she was using me as a pacifier, b/c she'd nurse for 5-10 mins and fall asleep, and wake up in 45 mins. But we are getting more of a rutine down, but every once in a while we stray from it and I feed her earlier. She mostly feeds every 2-3 hours. She woke up 3 times last night, but thats better than it was...every hour or so....ugh... that was rough. I think the first 5-6 days I got a total of 8 hours of sleep. But I have been able to catch up a little bit now. NOTHING compared to the sleep I got while pg... And I thought I did'nt sleep well then..HA!

Kailey went on her first outing today also. Well....not really b/c she has had to go to the doctors 3 times since she was born to get blood drawn for the jaundice. But it was her first outing other than that. We had to go to town for her last blood work and hubby and I decided since she was sleeping so well in her car seat that we would go to Walmart b/c we needed things at the house. She did so great! It's funny how much people love seeing babies. No one came up to us, but they would stare. Unfortunetly they could'nt see her b/c we had a blanket draped over the car seat.

It is crazy that we all had our babies so close together and NO one was even due yet! Candice you and I had our baby girls on the same day, I think, (feb 3rd). What time did you deliver Cailyn? Kailey was born at 7:57pm.

Kailey is right next to me in her bouncy chair. She likes it b/c it vibrates aswell. We also have a swing for her, and she like it ok. But she won't stay in it more than 10 mins. I'm so happy that she does'nt have to be under the lights anymore, now we can really get a rutine down...on what she like to sleep in, play in, etc. Have any of you all's DH's gone back to work? Mine DH went back middle of last week. The first day was a little nerve wracking being by meyself. But it went great. I have a lot of confidence with her now.
My goodness, have I talked!!! I better wrap this up b4 you all get bored. Talk soon!

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd drop in here and say hi since everyone's moved! I have no baby yet but I only have 5 days till my due date so if I go a week over I'll be induced. I WILL have a baby in February! I'm so glad to hear everyone is doing well with their little ones, and Robyn, I agree with everyone else, cherish this time you have with Taylor, he will only be this small once. I know I will be the same way, I don't care if it's not the best idea, to me there would be nothing better than my baby falling asleep in my arms, I guess I'll deal with whatever results from it later!
Candice, I'm also glad to hear the BF worked out for you!! I hope Cailyn's kidneys will be okay, I can imagine that would be stressful on you having just had her, but she will still be perfect in your eyes no matter what:)
Elisha- Glad to hear Kailey's jaundice levels are down as well, that's pretty common I heard of newborns so I'm glad it wasn't anything too serious.
Friday- Good news about Ava's weight too! she will be up there in no time. At least she was no earlier than a month, but that would be a bit of a bummer not being able to take her out and show her off, better safe than sorry though!
Valerie- How is Isaiah doing? I was thinking about a reply to one of your posts about that Angel Care baby monitor and how you were thinking of getting one even though this is your third baby. I actually took the other one I had back today and got that one for the extra piece of mind. Am I paranoid or what?? lol

I feel like I am all ready now! I'm really not scared for the labor, I know it will be incredibly painful, but I am just more anxious to snuggle Kaylee finally!!

feb06baby
02-12-2006, 10:13 PM
Hey Brooke!! So glad you came to join us. I bet you are so ready!! I'm excited for you. I was not really nervous either right before Kailey was born. I'm surprised how "un-nervous" I was during the experience. I just went into "lets get my baby out" mode. It's just SO worth everything in the end! Since she's been born I have had no sleep, and sometimes I get really frustrated at that fact, but them I remember how much I wanted her out and how much I love her and that all goes away. I got that Angel Care monitor from my Inlaws, but have not used it yet b/c she's been in that incubator. She will get to sleep in her bassinet tonight, so we will use it. Anyways, glad you found us...can't wait until we can read Kaylee's birth story...keep us updated on your progress!........Elisha

Hey Brooke, I actually didnt get the monitor I find that it is my nxiety making mefeel so paranoid and honestly knowing me if i had that monitor I would be anxious everynight wondering of its going to go off. Isiah has absolutley zero risk factors and we dont smoke or anything and my other two are just fine si I trust god with this one, we are moving the crib into our room though for the first yr...SIDS is extremely rare anymore I think its my own paranoia, lol...I bet your ready for baby hope baby comes soon for ya!

Valerie

Isaiah is 12 days and already rolled to his side!!!!!!!!!

Brooke85
02-13-2006, 04:47 AM
Valerie, I hear ya on worrying if the monitor will actually go off! That will be another fear of mine probably. The only thing is that I've heard they give off a lot of false alarms so hopefully that won't happen. I wish our bedroom was big enough to bring the crib into! lol. I am planning on just having the bassinet next to the bed for awhile, especially since I want to BF and when I feel ready I will put Kaylee in her crib. At least her nursery is right on the other side of the wall from our room so even when she is in her crib she will be close. I haven't even had her yet and the thought of leaving her alone in there freaks me out. I think she'll be in her bassinet for a long time parked right next to me! lol. Do I sound a little overprotective? yes! I cannot sleep a bit right now. I have a feeling my baby will be very active at this time, she is kicking and moving like crazy right now and it is almost 2 in the morning and during the day she hardley moves...boy will I have my hands full! I should be enjoying my sleep, I think I'm going to do that soon! Have a great day ladies:)

02-16-2006, 02:47 PM
Hey ladies!!! I have missed soo much! Elisha I had Cailyn at 7:47 exactly!!! It's so weird to think we were in labor at the same time!!! LOL! Our babies are 10 min apart! AWWW!!!! That is soo awesome!!! I miss all you girls!!! I need to get on more but I have had to take her to the doc so much... she had to go to a urology pediatrics doctor yesterday and he said that her kidney's were dialated still but nothing to be too concerned about at this point. She does have to have a cystogram done. we don't know what the date is for that but they have to use a cathider to go up inside and see if there is any blockage from her bladder because she isnt emptying it like she should. Lord it's scarry! They said other than that she is wonderful. They say as long as she is peeing and pooping ok... and since she is BFing she is pooping 8 - 10 times a day. What abotu you ladies that are bfing?? Do they go that often? It seems like I am changin poop every second of the day! And about the BFing, yes I feel like I am feeding her all day long. And Robyn, my little girl is with me every second of the day and night. She sleeps the best on my chest. lol!! My hubby has only held her like maybe 10 times. for about 10 min intervels. I am sad if I don't have her. Is that crazy? I miss her so much when I am not holding her even if she is right there beside me. I'm crazy!!

Robyn... you lucky dog! I get about 4 hrs of sleep so far. and I can't sleep during the day because it seems there is sooo much to be done. I am exhausted, but I love it!

I'm glad everyone and the babies are doing good... Friday, I am so glad that Ava is doing as good as she is. It's scarry when you think they are a month early, but it's sooo great that she is doing so well... a lot of babies weigh the amount Ava did full term, so that is great!!! :)

Ok ladies I am going now... I stopped by work for a sec on my way home from Cailyn's 2 wk appt. She had to get a shot today. I cried! LOL! Talk to you ladies later!!!

Hey girls!

LOL...I guess we have been busy mommies! Robyn, when you said your MIL and mom had been coming over a lot I thought I wrote that!....My mom is starting to drive me nuts. She comes over TOO much. She's wonderful, but gives too many "suggestions" on how to care for Kailey  Hope your mom is not like that. Kailey is the same way as Taylor with the swing too. It took a few times for her to get used to it, but she finally fell asleep in it yesterday. I was so happy that I did'nt have to hold her until she fell asleep.

Candice- That is so crazy that Cailyn and Kailey are 10 mins apart! I would of never guessed we would of been in labor at the same time. lol. I hope all goes well with her and the kidney thing. Glad everything else with her is great!!! And yes, I too feel like I change poopy diapers all day. It's amazing what their little bodies can put out! Kailey also likes to sleep on our chests. Well, she like her daddy's chest and like to sleep curled up on her side next to my breasts..lol... She definetly sleeps better on her side than her back...What about all of you all's babies? I lay her on her side all the time. I get worried about the SIDS thing, but she just does so much better that way. I have to prop a rolled up blanket behind her sometimes.

Any of your babies smiled yet? I know that when they smile this young its not in reaction to anything, just involuntary. But Kailey smiles alot. Its SO CUTE. Robyn, my little one also has gas sometimes. I give her the drops and it seems to help. I have not read your post about it yet, but I'm going to.

Anyhow, g2g....ttyl!

Well I took Isaiah for his hearing test today as he failed the one at the hospital after he was born, he passed with flying colors glory to god! Also I got his birth certificate today!!!! anyway thought I would share!Hope everyone is doing great!

friday13
02-17-2006, 03:28 PM
VAL congrats on the passing of the hearing test! WWOOOH OOO !

And how are your babes doing? My little miss Ava seems to be on a good schedule of every 3, 3.5 or 4 hours of feeding. from waking up time, changing and feeding to waking up time again. so she is doing great.... except for the inlaws... they are here in my home visiting and they threw her all of her schedule and my MIL is a disaster - thinking I don't know how to treat my child and her gas.... she thinks slapping her on the back (burping) and bouncing her up and down and rubbing her tummy all fast is helping - but its NOT its making her WORSE... she thinks my baby drinks her formula too fast - and this really makes my daughter mad! UGH!!!! but they are gone soon - and my husband and I have had discussions with her but she won't listen... the MIL nad FIL are back on sunday afternoon till tuesday morning and we need to talk to her on sunday as soon as she returns... because my poor baby girl was screaming crying the past two nights because my MIL is a jack***. And I will not tolerate this one more min.

Anyway - other than that she is doing GREAT and I am doing good. I had the dermabond glue for my incision (csection) and its great so far! NO tugging or pulling etc. its healing well. NO strips to take off or stitches etc.

I am still bleedign though - are any of you? I stopped bleeding but then started back up since the in laws were here - do you think its stress??????

XXOO to all -
Friday
Ava 3 weeks on Monday.
OH and the BFers - my daughter is doing like 8 poopy diapers a day on the formula (nestle good start) its the closest thing to Breast milk "they say".... and she certainly is pooping like a bf baby! I wish she wouldn't poop so much - LOL!!

friday13
02-19-2006, 01:57 PM
Is anyone still bleeding? I am... I stopped for about 4 days and then it started back up? I am curious to see if I am alone here on this - maybe I need to call the Dr.???

Hey Robyn... I introduced the Pacifier the night she was born. I had one and loved it, and it sure helps because they feel secure when something is in there mouth. It will be hard to break when the time comes but it really helps out because she either wants the boob in her mouth for security or the paci. And about the bleeding. I am the same with you Robyn... I get soooo mad I think it's done and over with so I do'nt use a pad and oh lord later on in the day it's wet down there again. It's sooo weird how there is absolutely nothing for like a day and then boom there it is again. oh well. Everything is great on my end! The poop never ends with her!!! I know her butt has to be sore! I have put balmex on her but I know it still has to hurt her. She is getting little bumps around her butt... I think it's from changing her too much... but I don't want that just sitting in there. So I change her asap after she goes. I think we have went through 200 diapers literally!

Hey ladies just checking in! Anyhow I got the pictures from the hospital the other day and Isaiah loks different already, Im thinking of going to get the kids pictures done soon, just gotta make an appt. I wanna get the kids coordinating outfits and stuff. I had to change Isaiah's formula to Isomil, I wish I had breastfed so badly!!! but he seems tobe tolerating the Isomil much better, his poop looks better not so watery and he isnt quite as gassy as he was...

Question, have any of your husbands been nagging to "ya know" yet? my hubby has and to be honest I gave in, we didnt wait very long with the other two and Im not bleeding anymore so...but I got really worried about getting pregnant again so I cut it short, lmao...anyway,

Isaiah will be a month old next week already here has the month gone?

Hope all is well!

Hey all.... Everything is good here. Kailey is doing great too. She is having a bout with some baby acne though. It's mostly around her mouth and on her cheeks. I have to make sure I dry her face really well after she nurses. She is waking about 3 times a night. She usually gies 2 hrs between feedings, and on occation I get lucky and she will go 3 hrs. I'm so used to sleeping in 2-3 hr intervals that I don't feel exhausted like I did when she was born. Diaper changes are good, but the last few diapers have had some green poop mixed in with the normal orangy-yellow. I know BF babies are suppose to have yellowish BM's. I gotta keep an eye on that. Candice- Kailey also has soem red bumps in her butt, nothing severe, but I did but some Desitin on it.

I'am enjoying her so much. She is so sweet!! Sometimes I get frustrated when I have to wake up at night, but once she starts eating it all goes away. SHe makes the cutest noises while eating. She is still choking every once in a while though. My milk just comes so fast for her. I have TOO much milk. When I take my bra off my boobs just drip milk sometimes. I'm contantly changing my breast pads.

I'm still bleeding aswell. Its more like a brownish discharge though. I just wear pads 24/7, even though I HATE PADS!!! And Robyn- I have introduced the Paci already. I really did'nt want to, since I was BFing and I did'nt want her to be dependent on one. But, when Kailey was in that incubator she was really fussy and I tried it. At first she could'nt keep it in her mouth, it just keep popping out, and we would have to hold it there for her. Now she can keep it in her mouth, but only sucks on it for a few minutes then spits it out. I only give it to her if she's really fussy, it helps put her to sleep. I don't think she will need it much longer, b/c at this point I rarely give it to her.

Valerie-my DH has been asking to aswell, even though he knows I'm suppose to wait six weeks. He is really turned on by my "un" pregnant body now, and its driving him crazy. I'm feeling ok down there, so I may give it a couple more weeks and then try. I'm terrified about getting pg again too, and we will have to use condoms until I get on BC  And thats only if when I let him try before 6 weeks I don't cut it short like you! LOL :D

So glad I am not alone on the bleeding situation - OK now I feel normal after your inputs! thanks! mine is still here - it goes away and comes back! ugh.

haven't given in on the "sex" yet - LOL - the csection I am supposed to wait 6 weeks and I am still VERY tender - not bad - I just know I am not up for sex yet! the stomach muscles are uh.... sore ....

the pacifier - I have introduced it - Ava only likes the NUK kind... and she doesn't use it all the time and she even spits it out if she is not up for it. kinda funny! I am right now trying to get her back on her 3-3.5 hour schedule - man... the inlaws really messed that up for us. Anyway - they left this morning at 4am - GOOD RIDDENS!!! Lord... I wish I could give them away - I know that is harsh but they are not nice.

My friend had a csection and had sex on the day of the "good to go" 6 week check up - and yep ladies ---- you guessed it - she got pregnant! ONE time at 6 weeks .... lord poor thing - she cried at first but is now over it - and is happy now and about 13 weeks along....

how are you all doing with hiccups and the baby? My babe seems to have a lot of hiccups - and dealing with the diaper rash - Doc just told me today to pat the area dry with a cloth diaper or something similar and then when its dry - to apply a CHUNK of diaper rash treatment to the effected area. So we will give that a try....

and the csection ladies - how are you recovering? I am doing good. No tugging or pulling feeling - I had surgical glue for my scar and its going well. No strips, or staples or anything. My scar is kinda tender and itchy though - which means its healing I guess - I am going to start using Neosporin with pain reliever now - I am just now 3 weeks post op and they said I can use it - no problem.

and how are your babes doing with "tummy time" ava hates it... let me know if you are doing this now and for how long and if its going OK? any tips / advice would be SO appreciated.

Hey ladies! Just wanted to check in and let everyone know I'm going to be induced tomorrow. I am 4 days late today and will be calling the hospital first thing in the morning and they will give me a time to come in. I am a little nervous about being induced because it makes the whole labor and birth thing seem so "medical" but way more excited to get Kaylee out and finally see this stubborn little person who I have been carrying for 9+ months now! I will let you know how everything goes! Hope everyone is doing well with their babies:)

RObyn I hear you on the 24 hr BFing thing! MY GOODNESS!!! She won't let go of it. Sometimes she doesnt even eat she just moves her jaw up and down on it for security I guess... When I take her off of it she screams!!! lol! Not all the time, just sometimes. Congrats Brooke... You won't get this until afterwards but since my whole entire Labor was only 3 hrs start to finish it was like the contractions were right on top of each other and that is one thing that everyone worry's about with being induced, it wasn't so bad. I am sure everything will be great!!! :)

Hello...........Congrats Brooke! Can't wait for you to join in in the baby talk.
I'm with you BFers about it being a 24/7 job!! Kailey uses me nipple as a pacifer to Candice. I try to keep her from doing that. Sometimes she does really well and will go 2-3 hours between. Other times she nurses for a few minutes and falls asleep. Then she wants to nurse again 30 mins later. Do either of you have this issue? How many minutes do you nurse for? How many mins on each side? Just curious to see what you all are doing. The night before last She only woke up once. It was so great. Then last night she woke up and would not go back to sleep. She was up from 2:30 until 5:00. I would get her asleep, then go to lay her down, and as soon as I did she'd fuss. It was a long night. I think that was just a bad night for her.

Candice I can't believe you were in labor for only 3 hrs!! I'm jealous! It was 16 hours for me.... It did seem to go by really fast though. Friday, sorry to hear about Ava's diaper rash. Kailey gets a little red once in a while, but no rash for her yet. Robyn-We also had the first explosive diaper the other day. lol..not fun. She had poop from her thighs to up and out the front and back of the diaper. Not quite sure how that happens, but it was funny.

Question for you all....Has your babies cord stump fell off yet? Kailey is almost 3 weeks old and it has not come off yet. I can tell its getting loser, but I'm ready for it to fall off. I would like to give her a real bath, instead of a sponge bath.

Well I better go and get some cleaning done while she is still asleep. :)
Have a good day ladies!!

Robyn what is the brand name of gripe water that you are going to try? And I think you can use it in drop form - too.... it will say on the bottle of gripe water I believe.

Also - are any of you doing TUMMY TIME???? Ava hates it - but when I burp her over my shoulder she really picks up her head and looks around etc. its crazy!! but if I put her on her tummy she tries to use her knees to get up but not her arms and yells and screams after like 3-5 min. I feel terrible..... any of you trying this yet? if not let me know - if so let me know too - Thanks!!

Can't wait to hear from Brooke!!

OK my little one has thrown me for a loop today - I know she has growth spurts where instead of eating every 3 hours she will eat the same amount as usual 100ml every 2 hours or so.... well today - she is eating like every 2 hours but only 70ml each time... what is with that? and she is really fussy and doesn't sleep well - constantly pushing gas out while sleeping etc. I feel so bad. anyone else experience this?

I may order the baby's bliss tonight just to have on hand - because sometimes I wonder if the mylicon drops work? I haven't used them today with our little issue day - but I think I will put them in the next two bottles I make.

Ava is 3 weeks (this past monday) and she too lifts her head on my shoulder and looks around etc. I don't know about the tummy time thing - I think we are supposed to be doing it each day - i read online that the boppy helps a lot if your baby hates tummy time - so I will try that tomorrow- she is way too cranky tonight.

You are SO funny Robyn - I was thinking of having a COUPLE of beers tonight - I am SO exhausted haven't slept since 3 am and its now 5pm - I laid down a couple of times but she is so fussy that I can't sleep and its for such a short time - ugh.

OK when little miss Ava is a monster and crying a lot at night for NO reason - I put her in the same position that you put taylor - armpit area etc. and then she still freaks out for like 5 min. calms down and falls into a DEEP sleep.... then within 10-15 min. of putting her in bed we then pick her up and put her into her bassinet.

we have to do this maybe 1 time a day every 2 or 3 days or so.... so not often. but it does work when there is nothing wrong with her - (diaper, gas etc. ) and she is just being fussy.

So you can TRY.... (its really hard) to put him in the bassinet next to your bed AFTER he is in a DEEP sleep - LOL!! but I am sure he is really comfy there!!

Hello....We aren't really doing tummy time like we should. I'll put her on her tummy every few days, but she just cries after a few mins. Kailey also has a strong head and can hold it up to look around when up on my shoulder. I really want to get some gripe water to try. I also wonder if the mylicon drops work. Kailey has also been really fussy lately. I think our babies are in the 3 week growth spurt.I read that they tend to be fussy around this time.

Oh I would love to have a few beers or a glass of wine. Actually its been so long since I drank that I would just love to get really drunk. LOL. Whenever I introduce the bottle I plan to pump enough so I can do so one night.

Robyn-Kailey sleeps in bed with us off and on. She always falls asleep in our arms or in bed with us, then I try to put her in the bassinet. Somtimes I'am sucsessful, other times she ends up back in bed with me. Then there are the times where I'm just plain guilty of being lazy and just falling asleep with her in our bed. I really need to try to get her to fall asleep on her own, with out us holding her.

Kailey's sleep pattern has been off the past few days. It seems like its really hard to get her to sleep after nursing her and by the end of the day it feels like she only sleep in 20 min intervals. She also tends to be most fussy at dinner time. Any one else have this issue?

Well I better get going!

I was having the fussy at dinner time (when we were trying to actually eat some food) LOL !! I tell ya having a baby sure does put you on a diet of basically fasting - because I would rather sleep than eat - LOL!! man. Anyway.... just today she switched from being awake and fussy at 4 or 5pm till 10 or 11pm - TO being fussy from 11am - 4pm or so.... just today ---- so there is hope! But I am SO tired from not sleeping at all today.

Hopefully your little one will switch I hope mine stays this way - I would rather her be UP during the day and sleepier at night timer....

I love Novels! YOU are sooooo lucky for the night time sleeping I would just DIE for a good 4 hours from the start of a feeding to the start of the next one at night time!! She just started to do 3 hours at the most and usually 2.5 hours now... its insane... she started this yesterday!! She used to do 3 hours at a minimum up to 4 hours and it was GREAT! I am thinking Elisha may be onto something - and I am hoping this is just a spurt and it goes away!!! as quickly as it came on! LOL!

I will try the boppy pillow today - she is restless right now trying to sleep in her infant chair... she doesn't fit into the baby papasan yet - it squishes her little head too much (too much of an incline) I think... so I got a cheap one that lays back better.

Anywho.... Robyn how much did your carrier cost? and which kind did you get and is it comfy? I have the 4 bad discs in my spine and need something comfy.

Also... it may not be hte paci with taylors issue and sucking - my little Ava messes around and almost seems to forget to put her tongue UNDER the bottle nipple.. the more anxious she is to eat the worse it is to get her to latch to the nipple on the bottle... its like she forgets... too. She doesn't really like the pacifier I am just using it once in a while ....

Ladies I HAVE to cut her fingernails - any advice????? I am SO scared but they need to be cut badly (I am using outfit with mitts built in)... so lame... I need to dress her in other things - but I can't because she will dig her face etc.

gotta run - love to you all !!

Hey girls...well Kaylee Michelle is finally here! I went in Thursday (had to be rescheduled) to be induced, and only after about 2 hrs. there and a dose of cervidel to ripen my cervix my doctor decided it would be best to have a C-section because she was measuring so big and my pelvis wasn't big enough. She left it up to me but basically was saying that with a vaginal birth it may take a very long time if she even would make it through my pelvis! so I went ahead and said yes to the C-section knowing hardley anything about it. So in 8 hrs. I was supposed to go in...and then all of a sudden Kaylee's heart rate kept dipping so my doctor decided to do the surgery right away. That's when it hit me what I was getting into! within minutes I was signing a consent form and my boyfriend was putting on his surgical clothes to go in there with me and they wheeled me in the other room and did the spinal and began surgery. I was so amazed at how fast it went, but once they did the incision she was out in 5 min. and in my arms! She weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. and was 22 inches long and had a full head of dark hair like her dad! she definitely doesn't look like me, I'm short and blonde! lol. She will probably be much taller than me. I guess the reason why her heart rate kept dipping was because when they took her out of me her cord was wrapped around her neck. That freaked me out and I just thought "thank god everything was okay and my doctor noticed when she did!" Everything is going okay now, it's my first day at home and I'm very much in pain(even with meds!) from the surgery and am trying not to bend over or over exert myself but it is so hard with the baby because I always want to hold her so I bend over anyway and move around more than I probably should. Looking at her makes all the pain worth it! Well I just wanted to check in, and I will talk to everyone later when I get time to reply to everyone's posts...hope you are all doing great!!

Valerie- that is great to hear you bounced back quickly from your surgery:) I hope the same thing will happen for me. Right now I am pretty sore but am taking the pain meds as scheduled so all is well so far. I haven't showered the incision area at all yet since they pulled the staples out and glued it together. I'm so afraid of it getting infected that I've been putting it off and just washing the rest of my body separately...silly, I know...the nurses told me I could shower as long as I blow-dry the area and keep it dry, but I'm still going to wait a couple days! I feel like I haven't been resting like I should though. Hopefully it heals okay and I'm not doing more than I should be.

and the breastfeeding thing isn't going so well right now. I'm going to the pediatrician first thing tomorrow morning because my milk hasn't came in yet and Kaylee latched on at first, but now she won't at all (I think I confused her by giving her a pacifier too so she won't take the nipple now) and even when she did latch on she wasn't getting hardley anything and lost a pound and a half when I left the hospital. The nurses were really concerned so they gave me formula to "supplement feed" her until I see the doctor Monday. So instead of letting her suck my nipples and make them even more sore than they already are (since she's not getting anything anyway) I've just been pumping my colostrum and feeding it to her with a tiny measuring spoon and then giving her the formula (about a 1/2 oz per feeding). I have no idea if this is enough and I'm so worried she is losing more weight. Thank god I go see the doctor tomorrow and she will weigh her and tell me. If she's lost anymore I'm just going to formula feed because I just can't bare to see her lose anymore nutrients.
Has this happened to anyone else? It's the fourth day and still no milk for me...

Other than that...how is everyone else doing? it is so hectic being a mom I had no idea how much I could get done on barely any sleep! It's tiring, but I love it!

YAY BROOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!! Congrats :) Sorry to hear about the BFing issues. I know it's really hard at first, but if you can try to stick with it. I PROMISE it will be worth it. My milk came in on the 3rd day, but some women can take longer, just hang in there.

Robyn- I also got some gripe water. I found a store locally that sells it. It seems to work so far. I responded to your post about it causing drowsiness.
It also seems to help when Kailey has the hiccups, so maybe you could try that with Taylor. I've used it twice today b/c Kailey is not having a very good day. Oh well, always tommorrow. As far as pacifiers go we have only tried the Nuk ones and she only takes them for a few mins, so I'm gonna take that as a hint that she does'nt like them. One less thing to break her from I guess.

Kailey's cord stump finally fell off, thanks to my clumsiness. I was changing her diaper and as I went to fasten the tabs my finger caught her stump and it popped off  It was'nt quite ready b/c it bled and the skin tissue was not dry in the center of her belly button like it was around the edges. My poor baby screamed. I hurt her.....I felt SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. But it did'nt last long, she was ok. Her belly button now has a scab in the center of it. atleast that nasty thing is off her. We actually got to give her a real bath today. I was gonna wait a day or so, but I could'nt help it, I had to bathe her. Sponge baths may have been getting her clean, but now I feel like she's REALLY clean. :)

I like yourcomment Brooke about how much you can get done on so little sleep. I feel the same way. But then there are days when Kailey keeps me SO busy that I find myself with a dirty house and still in my PJ's when DH gets home, and I feel guilty. I used to shower every morning, now I shower in the evenings when DH is home and I can get a free moment. My life has changed SO much since having a baby, but it all SO worth it when I look at my daughter. Anyhow, hope all well!!

Congrats Brooke!! and keep us posted on your BFing... Sorry your csection happened so fast - that sucks eh? I didn't even think I was going to BE at the hospital and they sent me for "monitoring" and then did a csection within hours - its rought mentally when its so quick!

I was in a lot of pain for 2 weeks straight. I started to feel a lot better during my 3rd week. But then at 3.5 weeks I got the STOMACH FLU - yeah... 103 temp, GAS pains ripping my poor tummy apart, sweats (drenched) when I sleep, skin HURT, and all of my muscles ached. I had muscle spasms behind my ears and headache. Wow eh? I have NEVER been so sick. the entire time we kept the baby away from me for 5 days and my hubby did every feeding and burping etc. - its been SO rough. I think by 6 weeks I will be feeling great! the flu really didn't help my tummy much. I couldn't even drink a sip of water without whining... outloud.... it was horrible. I am still sick - woke up drenched in sweat again all night last night and this morning but everything else is starting to feel better. we are taking Ava to the dr. today her one month visit and some sh0ts - yuck.

I have my fingers crossed that the baby does not get this flu - I can't imagine such pain for a tiny baby. Also, we are using Nestle Carnation Good Start Formula with DHA and ARA.... she is a little gassy before she wakes up and after eats but that has been her deal from the get go. She was EARLY (about 1 month) and is growing like a weed and putting on some good weight. I will give you ladies an update later after the Dr. appt.

Robyn SO happy you could have an offer!! we haven't had an offer yet.. its sucking badly... I think we need a new agent. this is rediculous for S. Florida - 5 min. from the beach!! OH well....

Friday, so sorry to hear about your flu. I hope everything is going well now. That wouls freak me out too...being sick and worrying about giving it to the baby, especially since she was early and at a higher risk for catching it.

Well so far the BF thing is starting to work, but I don't want to speak too soon. We must have spent about 3 hrs. with the lactation consultant at the hospital yesterday and then they had to take Kaylee and test her jaundice levels because she was looking a little yellow. Everything came out ok and we are taking her in to the doctor again today for another weight check. (Her first appt. was yesterday and she lost another 6 oz.) so as of yesterday she went from birth at 8 lbs. 4 oz. to 7 lbs even. I'm so worried about her so I hope that she gained a little more, we will find out today if the BF is filling her up! It seemed to work last night and she slept a lot more and actually spit some of it up (all over my hair and shirt, lol!) I wasn't expecting that so I didn't have a burp cloth and when I saw it I was so happy because I figured she is actually taking some of it and my milk is finally starting to come in!!

well anyways, sorry for the breastfeeding novel, that's about the most exciting thing going on with me right now, but I absolutely love love love it!

Talk to everyone later!

That is great that your milk came in Brooke!! Mine came in the day after I brought her home from the hosp. so I have had no problem exc. it seems like I am feeding her every second! LOL! I know she is getting a lot, because you can hear her sucking it down like CRAZY!!! LOL! My little PIG! She is getting sooo big you guys! I am getting so sad!!! We put her first shoes on today! They are the cutest things ever! Last night we gave her her first bath. Her cord fell off the first week but it did the same thing feb06's baby's did so I wasn't sure if I should bathe her yet or not sooo at her 2 week ck up I asked the doc if I could bathe her and he said to wait another week or so... It was killing me because I wanted to give her her first bath sooo bad! But he said that I should hold out on the bath until another week... so that is what I did. So she finally got her first one yesterday! Ohh... and also, my hubby had a big work thing at Busch Gardens Sunday (like a family thing they do for the employees) and I was up on going and my mom wanted to watch Cailyn so I went with him. I pumped enough for her for the day but oh my goodness by then end of the day my boobs were SOOOOO much in pain I could bearly move! And they were huge! I suggest you ladies take your pumps with you when you go off for the day with no baby because the pain of this was absolutely gut wrenching! It will definately be hard to take her off of breastfeeding when the time comes because that pain was unbearable, and they say it happens like that for about 6 weeks until your milk goes away. But anyways... it was soo super hard for me to leave her but Chris and I needed it badly, and my mom is in every way just like me and she absolutely would die for my baby girl, and I knew she would be very well taken care of.

Anyways... that is the updates on me. Cailyn has to have a cystogram done (where they check to see if there is any blockage in the urethra) wish me luck with that one, it has to be painful, I don't know what I am going to do when the time comes but it is March 29. I'll let you ladies know what happens!!! (it's bc of the kidney thing)

Brooke Glad to hear you are doing good! Congrats on that baby!! FINALLY! :)

Candice-Oh my goodness I feel for you! I know your boobs must of been so sore. Mine hurt like hell when Kailey sleeps for a long time at night. I have so much milk though that I only feed off one breast at a time. So, one boob goes longer every other feeding. I'm reading The Nursing Mothers Companion, and that is what is suggested if you have an abundant supply of milk. This way at least one breast is being emptied at each feeding. Actually, even though I'm doing this, Kailey still doesn't empty a breast. I'll feed her on just one side and when I'm done I can still squeeze milk out. I'll be glad when my supply slows down, if it ever does  .

Brooke- glad to know that your milk has come in ;) . I knew that my milk would take a few days to come in, but I was still stressing over it...worrying that she wasn't getting enough because she was so fussy until it came in.... I thought my body was failing me....blah, blah...I was worried for nothing. Now, I have so much milk I could feed triplets...LOL.

Well I know Kailey has gained some wieght! She's like your baby Candice...can hear her eating when she BF's. My little piggie!!! It's so funny, b/c when she's really hungary she opens her mouth wide and attackes(LOL) my nipple. Like she can't get it fast enough!

Oh my she is getting SUCH a personality already! She is so adorable. I just love her so much. She will be a month old Friday. Can you believe it's going so fast girls???? If it keeps going like this, she'll be turning one before I know it! Anywho.....Better go!
