I am trying to sort through a web of odd symptoms. Any thoughts would be really helpful.

I am 39 and just feel progressively "not right". I feel extremely tired all the time. I have an active job that requires about three miles of walking during my 8 hours. This never bothered me before. I have been getting migraines more frequently. My arms and legs feel tired. Like holding the phone is too much. My vision seems to have suddenly gotten worse.

The most difficult symptom next to fatigue is tiny little spasms that feel kind of achy and electrical in my legs that prevent me from sleeping. NSAIDS do not help at all. I kind of feel it in my head too, but mostly in my legs.

Other odd symptoms== increased frequency of having to urinate, pain in my belly on the right lower side, Extreme "hotflashes" which cause intense burning of my skin and then a feeling of nausea ( early menopause has been ruled out already).

I had an MRI about 1 1/2 yrs ago of my brain which was normal because I got frequent numbness and cold sensations on left side of my face. This still occurs periodically, but less often.

My right foot responds differently to pointing than my left. My left foot points just fine. My right foot, when pointed, flares at the toes. Does that make sense? I had dropped something on that foot at one time and just figured I injured the nerve. It has never gotten better.

I also notice that on some days I cannot type correctly. Like my fingers won't keep up with my brain.

As you can see these are a hodge podge of general symptoms. I am tired of hearing the "you need to manage your stress better". I believe that I do have too much stress-- a disabled husband and autistic son---however-- I don't want my own symptoms minimized.

Any thoughts would be really helpful. Does this sound like MS????

Thank you!

Hi Jasiusmom! Sounds like you have your hands full! If you've done any reading up on MS, you'll know that it can mimic many other diseases and each person has a different set of symptoms which make it very difficult to diagnose. Many of us with MS went for years feeling "not right" with odd symptoms coming and going. We know our own bodies best, so if you know there is something "wrong" you need to be pro-active. Find a neurologist and explain what's going on. I had two brain MRI's done, 12 months apart, and a spinal tap (along with a dozen other neurological tests) not just to look for MS, but to rule out other illnesses as well. The process can be a long, frustrating road, so patience must be your best buddy. Don't let any doctors convince you that it is "stress". I was told for years that I was just having stress and anxiety attacks and some Prozac would solve my problems. I wasn't convinced, and kept pursuing medical opinions until I found the right doctor who took the time to really listen to me and in about 14 months of every test in the book, he did, in fact, find that I have MS. Sorry to be long winded, but I can see you are frustrated and wanted to share my experience. When I heard my diagnosis, I was actually relieved to find out I wasn't imagining things and was not crazy. If its been a year and a half since your last MRI, you should get another one for comparison. All the best in finding what you are looking for. Take care - Sharon Grace
