Hi,

A few months ago, not sure exactly how long, a couple of strange markings appeared on my body. They have since spread, and some are very large. Initially, they were around the inside of my thighs but they have spread to all around that area and to my stomach, they have even started to appear in one of my armpits.

They change often, sometimes fading to be almost invisible, sometimes bright red, sometimes a purplish colour, but none of them are getting any smaller and new ones keep appearing. They are not irritating in the slightest, were it not for the fact that I can see them I would not know they were there.

I really dont like them and they are really starting to worry me, I would really appreciate any help. I have taken a couple of pictures (not in any way explicit), the ones on my leg are much more faded than usual but the ones on my stomach are very clear.

Please help me find out what they are and what I can do about them!

If it's of any importance, I am an 18 year old caucasian male who doesnt smoke, drinks occassionally, has a decent diet but with too many snack items and doesnt get enough excersize.

Thanks-
Jeffrey

I'm sorry the pictures are so large and that the markings are in the bottom of the pictures.

Though your pictures were huge and somewhat out of focus ( no offense), from what I saw I would say they are stretch marks. First off if they are and you are getting them everywhere, then perhaps you had a growth spurt. You are 18 as you posted and usually that is the last and sometime biggest growth spurt you will have.
Also if you have started to lift weights, or tried to lose weight then that is another possibility, or if you have been on any type of medication, especially anything on the line of steriods which also can result in immense stretch marks. I would say pregnancy, but obviously that isn't your case at all.

If I were you I would go see a doctor about this. I only say this because though it is perfectly normal to get stretch marks by just growing, from my own research it isn't always "normal" to get them in such immense amounts if your body hasn't gone through an immense change such as pregnancy, weight lose or gain. I'm not trying to scare you, but there could be an underlining problem, but even if there wasn't at least you can have a doctor look at them and help you figure out why you are getting them ( if it is stretch marks at all).
