My girlfriend was on her 7 day placebo period in taking one form of pills and she switched to another form of the pill immediately after this. i don't think she was spotting or bleeding at all during the 7 day placebo period. She began having a lot of breast tenderness and has been very nauseous the past few days. She also feels that she has gained a little weight since the pill change because of the way her clothes fit. This is unusual also since she has not had an increase in appetite.

In addition, she used to spot and have a lot of irregular bleeding. She was on the first pill since November, and had a LOT of irregular bleeding and spotting all the way up until a week or two into January. It seemed like she was having her period about two times or more a month (every time we turned around). However, all this irregular bleeding has abruptly stopped.

All of these symptoms have us quite worried that she may be pregnant.

Could this just be due to the changing of the pill, or is there a good chance she may, in fact, be pregnant?

Thank you very much for any advice.

These are all side effects of starting the new pill. If you read the package insert that came with the pills, you'll see that these are common side effects.

Thank you for your response.

We already knew that these symptoms could be from the pill, but they can also be early signs of pregnancy. That is what has us a little worried.

Upon reading some of the posts here, we feel a little better because the weight she has gained is more of a bloated feeling. We feel (and are hoping) that this is probably due to water retention due to the pill.

She is due to start her period next week, so we will see.

If anyone else has any information they feel would be helpful, please reply, and thank you very much!
