Hi, my daughter has had 2 swollen lymph nodes under her chin for 2 months. We were first told it was a virus, but she still has them. She is coughing, sneezing and stuffed up. The pediatrition didnt think a virus could last that long and wants her to take allergy meds. She had some bloodwork done and it looked fine.

My questions are: could it be lymphoma? Would it show up in a CBC?

Thanks,

Melba

Hi Colleen

A while back my daughter had a stubborn lymph node that had me worried and combing the internet for information. I understand that it often takes a long time for lymph nodes to recede in children. In fact, her swollen node is still more palpable than the one on the other side. I also discovered that allergies can make nodes swell as well. Does she have any other symptoms? From what I read, childhood lymphomas usually present with additional symptoms.

As far as a CBC goes, the only definitive way to check for lymphoma is through a biopsy. I really don't think your little one has lymphoma, but I know how scary it can be as a mom. Let us know what you find out!

Mel
