Recently I have had my arms and legs twitch, big twiches, they move 4 or 5 inches. Is this what is referred to as a spasm or what. can someone please shed some light. This happens mostly at night and both my arms jumped so much it woke me up last night. Thanks

If it's happening at night, it may not be abnormal. I know that during a certain stage of sleep, the body can twitch/jump. That happens to me (and a lot of other people I know) as well. I also know that there is something calledd RLS (Restless leg syndrome) that causes that kind of twitching at night. Maybe you might want to do some research on the net about it.
Good luck finding the answers that you need :).

I did consider that but i do have it some in the daytime and it is in my arms also. It has just started and it does not hurt, just an involutary jerk, very quick too.

I can relate,I have severe spasms,to where the tendons knot up and meds don't provide much relief.I get the involuntary muscle jumps, they drive me nuts and can be bothersome, some can be painful.I get them in arms and legs. The spasms in the legs, once thought to be restless leg syndrome has been ruled out.My neurologist can't get the muscle spasms under control with meds,so I am seeing a neuromuscular Doc at the cleveland clinic on the 21st.I know my neurologist had a name for it,can't remember.

Thanks for replying.
I haven't gotten a diagnosis yet but I am close MRI coming up, my ENT and family dr. are quite sure, so much that my family dr, was ready to start steroid treatment, I am not quite ready for that at the moment. I have both left and right side weakness, left in dec. and right in Jan. by an ENG. couldn't walk a straight line, couldn't flip my hand in my palm, and he poked my arms and could only feel one point on both sides. I also have lost my taste completely, day 19, and loss of words, also right foot tingling up to my knee. I figured this was just one more thing.

I get that too and it started about a year ago. I have had them so severe that it has knocked me off the bed once. Sometimes, my stomach muscles are involved. Are yours?
My legs will kick out to the side with some and others, my feet move or jump a few inches, my hands jump, my arms, etc...
My PCP said it was from my thyroid being so out of whack, but he has that under control and they are still present, so he has no answers for me.
Good luck and God bless

I do get the muscles in my stomache jumping or twitching too. I have 3 boys who all have Tourettes syndrome and over the last week or so I have question whether I have it too, with all the jumpiness. As I am typing this my arm is flinging out, this is driving me crazy. I also have the feeling of chills,on the inside, running through my body, have you ever had that? I have also lost my sense of taste it has been 22 days now but I haven't seen it anywhere that this is related to MS, but my drs. really came to attention when I said this. Any ideas?

My neuro came to attention too when I said I'd lost taste. Mine is due to tongue numbness, but it certainly signaled something for the dr. (She should have known I didn't have taste based on how I was dressed...!)
