It’s been sometime since I’ve been here, but I have something going on that I thought maybe some of you might have experienced.

I have Fibr, TMJ and IBS-C. I also have something similar to a migraine ever 4-6 weeks.
I’ve been handling most of these things pretty well over the last year or so.

Four weeks ago I started having lower left abdominal and left side pain really bad. I thought I had pulled a muscle so didn’t see my family doc until it was so bad you couldn’t even touch there. He dx me with diverticulitits and prescribed Flagyl and Lortab. After the 7 days of meds I felt at least 80% better. A few days later I started hurting in my back (kidney area) also. Went to see my GI doc and he ordered blood work and a CT Scan. Colon looked fine and everything else looked fine except for a 1.6 lesion on the left kidney. I know have an appointment with a specialist for an ultrasound of the kidney Monday. No trouble or burning urinating. I’ve had a lot of stress the last 4 weeks with some things going on with one of the children in my family. The doctor said that the lesion on my kidney could have nothing to do with the pain I’m in since it is so small. (also had a colonoscopy 2 years ago that was clean).

Anyway over the last few days I’ve really been hurting. I have pain and burning and what feels like spasm in my stomach and back. My butt and thighs also have pain/burning. I almost feel like I did when I was first dx with Fibro. This morning when I woke I hurt all over. When I got out of the bed my thighs felt like tight rubber bands. It seems like I’m having these little pain/spasm over most of my body.

Do any of you have burning/pain in your stomachs, thighs, back, etc, or headaches due to your fibro? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kaye, yes I have the burning pain in my stomach and sides and down to my thighs. It comes and goes. I have had them for so many years, but did not know what to attribute them too. It is best you get everything checked out though. My hubby has a small cyst on the top of each of his kidneys that shows up in every scan he gets, but the docs never worry about it, seems some people have them and some don't. I hope your lesions turn out to be the don't worry type. Keep us posted.

Yes I get the burning or stinging pain...in my right arm in different places, and on the side/top of my thighs, upper back, ocassionaly my knees and feet too. Headaches too quite often, ones that pain pills don't really touch, only lying down with a couple cold packs, on my forehead and back of neck or on top of my head. Usually the only place I have that spasms is my lower back and sometimes my hips across the back.
I agree with Glojer, get it all checked out How did the dr. dx diverticultis? Have you gotten the pelvic area checked out too? A cyst on the ovary can cause bad pain sometimes. Get it all checked out and let us know how you are.

Hi Kaye:

It sounds like you are going through a fibro flare. Your doctor seems to be taking care of symptoms of concern such as your kidneys. When you go through a flare, it is painful, but that is the way fibro is. The symptoms will wax and wane. Don't be discouraged. Keep going.

Blessings,
Kirstee

I get results of the ultrasound on my kidney next monday. The doctor still says its to small to be causing any pain.
My GI doctor and my Family Doctor both are sure it is just the Fibro acting up again. The back, hip bone, neck pain are the same as when I was first dx. But the pain on my sides (flank) is a new one for me. And my stomach is also doing that gurgling gasy feel and sound again. That did happen when I was first dx with IBS.
The flank pain is the one that concerns me the most. When they did the ultrasound of the kidney, they put pressure around and on the bottom of my left rib cage. That actually hurt a little. The doctor said that is normal for someone with Fibro because of the mucsles surrounding the kidney and ribs.
Would love to hear some more stories from you guys if you have experienced anything like this.

hi kaye,
relax and breath. i am doing the same thing right now. not a new experience. at some point you stop being so afraid of every new sensation of pain or discomfort. every aspect of your being is involved in a flare up. fibro makes no sense. it just is.
while it is always best to have new stuff checked out i found over time the mad dashes to the doctor became less and less frequent.
hang in there and remember to breath, slow and deep.
peace,

Hi Kaye,

It does really sound like your flaring. When you flare, it seems like every little thing new is magnified X100. You notice every little thing that you wouldn't normally. Do like blue said and just breathe. Take your meds, relax, it will pass and you can go back to normal. As if any of us are normal having Fibro.

I'm in a flare myself right now. Lets breathe together.
