This may be a silly question, but I've heard so many different answers.
Can a wart on your finger or hand be spread to your genitals or are they two different types?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

They are different types. HPV has many different strain. From what I have read, there is the sexually transmitted virus, then there is the one that causes warts on the hands an feet. Thats only 2, there are many more out there.

There are well over 100 different strains of HPV. Certain types like to live on the soles of the feet, others on the hands, some on the gentials, others on general parts of skin like the leg or back, etc etc. Some strains can live on/in you and never show a wart, some cause cancer... others just disapear...
In general, the type that grows on your finger isn't likely to spread to your genitals. If you end up with them in both places, then you most likely have 2 separate strains.
They are are spread by physical contact...

i have to disagree with the other posts - i work in a doctor's office and have a wart on one of my fingers and have been told several times that i need to have it taken off because if for some reason it was ever cut, sliced or however else opened and you touched yourself or someone else for that matter that YES....it can spread! so just be careful! there are several types of HPV but docs have told me that it can happen!!! just wanted to share my input on what i've been told....kinda scarey i know!
