I go to my specialist on the 28th, so I got my blood test results from last week. My AST & Alt went from around 50 each to 333 & 408. I am 62yrs and haven't taken any treatment yet and actually was thinking I would not take treatment. I am also wondering if there is a natural way to treat Hep C or do these numbers mean my liver is beyong stage 3 now.

The only way you can tell what stage your liver is in is by getting a liver biopsy. The AST and ALT values can vary and are only used as a tool for the physician to detect there may be a problem. My AST and ALT values had been up in the area that your's are when I was first diagnosed with Hep C, that was about 10 years ago. My values have never ever been normal. They are still elevated, though not as high as they were initially. Currently I am not on treatment. I did try the interferon treatment 10 years ago, before the combo therapy was available, but I failed treatment. I found the side effects unbearable.

The best thing to do is talk to your doctor. Just because your test values are elevated, it does not necesarily mean that your hep C has advanced. Only a biopsy can detect the stage of your hepatitis. Good luck. I wish you well.
